*Ahem* QUOTE The story focuses on the Classics characters. Then clearly "Beast Wars Shattered Glass" is a perfect title for it! It's not the first thing you think of when you read the title, but it's not really "wrong". It's the Beast Wars that take place on Shattered Glass Earth, millions of years ago on the Shattered Glass timeline. So it is the Shattered Glass Beast Wars. ...It just happens to have been fought by Classicsverse characters. -------------------- |

Seriously, given the title I really did assume that the crew of Classicsverse!Autobots-now-with-Beast-Modes being shown in these panels were going to find themselves in the middle of a Shattered Glass version of the Beast Wars. Good guy Preds fighting bad guy Maximals on prehistoric Earth, heroic Megatron, honorless Dinobot, indestructible Waspinator, etc., the whole deal.
But they're actually just going to call themselves Maximals for some reason and then fight some Evil Predacons. Okay then. -------------------- ![]() |

The SG universe now has heroic Autobots, heroic Decepticons, evil Decepticons, evil Autobots, heroic maximals, and evil Predacons. But no heroic Predacons or evil Maximals. Maybe BW Sandstorm will show up to be a heroic Predacon.

The Club tweeted out a bit more of an explanation of the Beast Wars Shattered Glass comic: https://twitter.com/The_TF_Club QUOTE Lets clear up some things about the 2013 story BEAST WARS Shattered Glass... The SG Universe is now home to Classics Earth. Along with Classics earth, a few dozen Heroic Autobots and Evil Decepticons now reside in the Shattered Glass Universe. BEAST WARS Shattered Glass takes place in the distant past on Shattered Glass Earth and features the Heroic Maximals led by Ultra Mammoth fighting against the Evil Predacons. WHO these Preds are will be revealed in Issue 49. The story focuses on the Classics characters. However, with this story taking place ON Shattered Glass Earth, there may be some cool twists... This does exactly the opposite of clear anything up to me, but alrighty. I'll read it. |

Well, it's what I thought it would be. And I look at it as an alternative fiction I can assign to Beast Wars toys who weren't in the show.
I figure Iguanus has a good chance of showing up; will agree there. I'm hoping we get alligator Megatron, too, as his G1 counterpart. For those confused by everything:
-In the TCC 2007 comic, the Classicsverse Autobots and Decepticons encounter a new form of energon - Rarified Energon - somewhere in South America. -The energon was originally protected by Breakaway, one of the members of the combiner team that make up Nexus Prime. -Nexus Prime was one of the original 13 Transformers. Which means if Breakaway was guarding the energon, it was probably left there by the 13. -So it's super special. And due to the universal singularity thing that Hasbro crafted around the 13, it's super special for more than just the Classicsverse. -Somehow, Ultra Magnus (Shattered Glass) finds out about Rarified Energon -In the BotCon 2012 comic, Ultra Magnus (Shattered Glass) and his crew of Evil Autobots invade Classicsverse Earth. -Ultra Magnus (SG) uses a powerful Transformers artifact - the Terminus Blade - to steal the Rarified Energon. -He does so by taking the entire Classicsverse Earth back into the Shatteredverse -In the process of stealing the Earth (and the Rarified Energon) and transporting it back to the Shatteredverse, the Classicsverse unravels. -As it unravels, two Classicsverse ships approach the event horizon of the portal into the Shatteredverse. -Time is becoming all wibbly wobbly around these two ships as the Classicsverse tears itself into pieces. -One of the ships is the Graviton and is captained by Ultra Magnus (Classicsverse), the other ship is probably whoever becomes the Evil Predacons. -The ships exit the event horizon and enter the Shattered Glass universe. -Because of time's wibbly wobbliness, they are now deep in the Shattered Glass universe's past. -The ships crash on ancient Shattered Glass Earth. -Due to deadly radiation, the Autobots have to select beast modes. -Ultra Magnus becomes Ultra Mammoth. -So now the Shattered Glass universe's version of the Beast Wars is about to start, between the survivors of the two ships from the Classicsverse. What else we know: -The time into which the Classicsverse ships were thrust was classified as "timelocked" by the Trans Tech. -This was done to protect a relic known as the "Origin Matrix". -With the timelock broken by these two ships, the Trans Tech are able to send a Depth Charge to track down the Origin Matrix. -Depth Charge is the 2013 TCC membership toy. He turns into a jet, but he's still a Maximal. (So if the Autobots start calling themselves "Maximals"...Well hello there Depth Charge. Are you responsible?) I think that's everything that's known so far... -------------------- |

To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. It's odd to me that so many people seem to be tired of the SG setting as an "opposite day" for familiar characters... yet when it becomes something else, that gets ridiculed for not being part of opposite day.
Then again, the whole idea of supplemental BW fiction seems to be a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" proposition with this fandom... I always thought the major complaint was "peculiar" story direction. Like spending three paragraphs explaining a mustache First, that's not a story direction, it's a detail within a story. Second, "three paragraphs" is pure hyperbole. You're trying to prove a point by exaggerating something that isn't even applicable to your point. Hmmmm. While I'm not a member, I do enjoy hearing about their fiction....so sure. I'll get on this ride.
I'd personally love it if they could get their hands on more BW molds. Ultra Mammoth was a good start, just wish I had gotten my new job before the deadline for him. Oh well. -------------------- |

QUOTE First, that's not a story direction, it's a detail within a story. It's a direction they took the story to for far longer then neccessary. Although yes, 3 paragraphs was pure hyperbole. QUOTE Then again, the whole idea of supplemental BW fiction seems to be a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" proposition with this fandom... To some of us. I'm personally fine with this. I just think it has a rather unfortunate title that isn't really indicative of what most people would think upon first reading it. Like calling something "South American Transformers" and then instead of it featuring Optimus VS Malignus it's just the regular '84 cast fighting in South America. That's a bit of a cheat IMO. -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE First, that's not a story direction, it's a detail within a story. It's a direction they took the story to for far longer then neccessary. Although yes, 3 paragraphs was pure hyperbole. I thought it was necessary for both their characters. Cliffjumper doesn't trust anything different. If he sees somebody with a beard that didn't have a beard when he last saw him 5 minutes ago, he's going to call it out. SG Rodimus on the other hand, is self-absorbed, self-infatuated, egotistical, and narcissistic. If someone gives him a chance to go on about how cool he looks, he's going to go on about how cool he looks. And "go on" was, like, two sentences. -------------------- |
