I don't understand how anyone can hate tiny robots designed to look like delicious candy.

Chainclaw is my favorite. Mmm, Blue Raspberry.

QUOTE(Powered Convoy @ Nov 22 2010, 01:40 PM) *
THS-2B Convoy had new G2 style heads and cannons that didn't come with the regular THS-2.

Which makes me wonder if those parts didn't exist in the tooling already. You know, like Masterpiece Grimlock's crown.

QUOTE
There were other figures that had exclusive parts not seen in the regular release, but all of those were preexisting parts on a Diaclone, Microchange, or older Transformers release.

Right. That's what I meant by "pre-existing tooling."

Yes I was just clarifying for those who might not have understood.

There will be some recycling of eye pieces to the larger Scouts that are normally paired with these Minicons.

I hope if the figure can't hold the Minicon normally the pegs are extended for that purpose (sort of like the Emergency Minicons had pegs added to them for their final release so the Galaxy Force figures could hold them).

Those sensible and functional Mini-Cons can be found in your local stores right now.

Actually, I was thinking of Armada era Minions that weren't weapons or Overrun and didn't do anything for larger robots in robot mode aside from plugging on. I always thought Minicons should have a weapon/tool mode with handles/pegs so anyone can use them.

I kind of wish Hasbro would put out a Targetmaster pack too. I'd buy that. I like how the PCC Minicons really ARE weapons and armor as opposed to ridiculously small vehicles. (sometimes it's a FLYING gun... which actually makes a lot of sense... but it's still a gun first and foremost)... the only real exception has been, essentially, a Powermaster.

Yannow, I like targetmaster minicons, but at the same time, I don't see what's wrong with the idea of using some of them just as cost effective smaller toys for people who don't have a lot of money, or using them as power up batteries for bigger robots. o_o

Yes, it's a car on Megatron. Oh but wait. Now his cannon is EXTRA POWERFUL. What's wrong with that? It's pretty basic and easy to wrap one's head around.

Plus the way they were designed in Armada helped them stand on their own as a race of Transformers independent of the Autobots and Decepticons. I don't mind the PCC way, but I like the UT way too.

Is it possible to determine from the solicitation whether these three targetmasters will be available individually, in a three-pack or something else? Or which of them is which?

I believe Fracas is on our left, Recoil is in the center, and Haywire is on our right.

They're most likely available individually with the purchase of a United product (or a set amount of product) at one or more participating stores.

Hopefully they're not like 1 to 10 per store, but quite a few per store.

It would be nice if they were at least packed in with the three packs since a lot of the characters included are known for having Targetmasters, but Haywire being in the set without Blurr being included in the packs makes it unlikely. I know that's totally not the M.O. for this kind of thing anyway, so these will probably be separate purchase incentives. I'm not sure I like any of those Mini-Cons enough to pay a lot for them, especially if they're so monochromatic without even having the colored faces like the G1 versions had.

Yeah these scream buy a United item or spend 3000 yen on United at store X on date Y and get Target Master Z kind of deal.

I'm hoping Fracas' face turns red before release. Recoil has a silver face (I believe Haywire is similar) so I don't know how much they'd show up on these guys if they kept it that way.

Nothing hopefully, I like my PCC collecting easy! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ball.gif)

They should do them actually as G1 characters. Each of the drones should be individually named too and a seperate name for the combined form.

I feel you. I don't want a complete departure from pocket-sized TFs, I love my minicons and use them as TFs for the G1 base-bots. But there are hardly ANY dedicated Targetmaster guys. I don't mind if they turn into mobile weapons, either, especially if the wings/wheels/treads can be reconfigured for the weapon mode.

IMO the ideal Minicons had effective vehicle, weapon, and robot modes, like the Wolverine Claw jet guy and the Spinning Shield stealth jet guy. The Helicopter Gatling Guy and the Missile Firing Fire Truck Guy are other good examples, as were Megatron's minicon (a rare example of a TRUE targetmaster with a handle), Vector Prime's minicon, and Metroplex's Minicon. Overload manages all this (another "true" Targetmaster with a handle) while also being a Headmaster (a Brainmaster, really.) Others, like Swindle (Starscream's minicon), Cyclonus' minicon, Smokescreen and Hoist's minicons, Grindor, and the Destruction Team kind of looked like weapons anyway when mounted. The Energon Saber, when assembled, looked pretty cool as well. I think that some of the PCCs have actually done an effective job of transforming into armor, though, which is something that no prior Minicon really did. I just like the idea of the Minicon actually transforming into a new form adapted specifically to the larger robot.
