Looks pretty swell. If FP was as good at getting the rest of their act together as they are with this year's crop of toys, we'd all be laughing right now.

And I'd have probably foolishly renewed my membership instead of paying important bills.

Ok if I were to be able to buy this toy normally I would in a heartbeat. Hasbro dropped the ball making this a Con exclusive. It's beautiful as Sky-Byte. My biggest curiosity however is the Predacon marking on him? Are we gonna have a crossover event with Sky-byte coming in from R.I.D.? Is this a Beast Wars era Predacon from the future? Man the biggest thing I actually look forward to from botcon every year is the Comic and this year could look to be interesting.

Well, I've stared at the face too long trying to figure out why some people don't like it. Now the grimace has turned into a mustache and the top of his head into a Conquistador helmet.

My biggest curiosity however is the Predacon marking on him? Are we gonna have a crossover event with Sky-byte coming in from R.I.D.? Is this a Beast Wars era Predacon from the future? Does it really matter? People are excited about this toy because it's Sky-Byte, the hilarious poet from RID. The "official story" could make him into some totally separate character from another dimension (or an analogue or predecessor from the same one, or whatever), and I think 99% of purchasers won't care and will go on considering him to be the Sky-Byte from RID in just a new, different body. SEE ALSO: ROTF Bludgeon, a meaningless nobody who never did anything interesting or important but that everybody loves because they see him as G1 Bludgeon. -------------------- The TFWiki: when just five Infernos aren't enough. http://www.tfwiki.net

I think it's supposed to be the G1/G2 universe counterpart to the RiD character, so he will probably have a similar personality. He's supposed to be one of the earliest Predacons in this continuity. This story still eventually leads to Beast Wars you know, which comes after G2. I hope we see his boss as Razorclaw (in Botcon exclusive form).

Well RID/CR is linked to G1 via Kiss Players, so it could be the same guy (though I think Pete said he was the G1 universe Sky Byte).

Well, I've stared at the face too long trying to figure out why some people don't like it. Now the grimace has turned into a mustache and the top of his head into a Conquistador helmet. Can't...stop..laughing! Personally I don't hate it, but he has way too much eyebrow/forehead space for my tastes. The helmet really should extend down a little more; this way it makes him look like he's some dude with shaved eyebrows. I'd say that's the biggest change in this figure from the original toy, and the anime, and kinda throws off the figure... Sky-Byte does pretty well for himself for a guy who's never had his own toy.

SEE ALSO: ROTF Bludgeon, a meaningless nobody who never did anything interesting or important but that everybody loves because they see him as G1 Bludgeon. Well, to be fair it's based heavily on the Stormbringer Bludgeon. But yeah, people were excited about a new Bludgeon even when it was a redeco of Wreckage, because Bludgeon actually needed a good update and the status of the Destructicon version as "good" was highly questionable. People like Sky-byte, but it's not like his original toy was a brickish sub-Basic with a goofy-looking rubber shell. -------------------- |
