Look Im a huge G1 fan. But standing on your knees and flaping your arms like a chicken is not a good TF and thats basicly what a Throttlebot is.
Duocons are better..Mini Spies are better..heck most McDs Happy Meal toys are better then that In that respect no Goldbug is not better then Legends BB This post has been edited by tec: Feb 29 2012, 05:40 AM -------------------- Currently out of touch with reality watching tons of anime

I call bull on that. He beats the hell out of Energon Rodimus and was pretty faithful to the original.

I can sort of see why Classics Rodimus goes here. G1 Hot Rod actually had bicep rotation. Yeah, I guess Classics Rodimus has leg articulation, but that's a bit hindered by his backpack.
The Classics Rodimus design is more "Energon Rodimus as a car" than "updated G1 Hot Rod". The head design is based more on Energon Rodimus instead of G1 toy or cartoon Hot Rod (notice that the "helmet" thing covers the sides of his chin in a manner similar to EnergonRodimus), and I think the red might be closer to Energon Rodimus as well. |

Yeah, I guess Classics Rodimus has leg articulation, but that's a bit hindered by his backpack. Only if you're transforming him wrong. Slide his waist section forward and he's clear. He definitely takes his color scheme off of Energon Rodimus, likely just because that was the most recent version on the shelves, but the head design is pretty purely based on the G1 toy... like the Energon one was, just different takes on the same source material. The body's all G1. -------------------- Fall of Cybertron will blow your mind. That is all.

Beast Wars Megatron had a pretty sweet run until Beast Machines with the silly mega figure and Beast Changer then things turned around for him in RiD with the awesome Megabolt figure, but he didn't really have a large toy, did he?
Devastator started the whole combiner thing - but the KB Exclusive Micromaster devastator doesn't really have the same effect. I mean, yeah it's still larger than the components and maybe having the same overall mass as a deluxe. -------------------- |

The body's all G1. Um, look at the helmet. There are those helmet protrusions left and right of his chin. The G1 toy had a collar instead of those on each side of his chin. Hot Rod didn't have have blocky helmet pieces on both sides of his chin in the cartoon either. Also, that expression. He's either frowning or angry. Just doesn't feel very G1 Hot Rod. And there's how Classics Hot Rod has one too few exhaust pipes on each arm. The am exhausts are just not very prominent details anymore. There's also how his gun is too long for him to hold with his forearm raised all the way. Perhaps not all too big an issue, but not a good thing. I like Classics Rodimus, but I'm still hoping for a better update sometime in the future.
Well, maybe not "better"; I think that Classics Rodimus works extremely well as an upgrade into the aesthetics at the time of his release. He's not trying to be 1986 Hot Rod, he's trying to be a 2006 Hot Rod. But, that does leave me wanting a 1986 Hot Rod. He leaves me wanting a Hot Rod who isn't so shrimpy, frowny, and lacking things like bicep-swivels.

Really? Classics Roddy out articulates the original by miles, but you say it sucks because it lacks bicept swivels?
Wow. PCC Huffer is nice, but not as an upgrade for the original. It looked great as the Decepticon repaint. -------------------- |

Really? Classics Roddy out articulates the original by miles, but you say it sucks because it lacks bicept swivels? Wow. Classics Rodimus' arms suck regardless of their inability to swivel below the shoulder. I mean, the rest of him is fine enough, but those wimpy arms and tiny hands leave me cold. His forearm-mounted blasters should have been much more prominent too, as that was a pretty defining aspect of his look, that and the gigantic yelllow (not orange!!!) spoiler to separate him from just being Sideswipe with a flame deco. I kinda feel they went too far in the other direction with the size of his head too, but that's just nitpicking. -------------------- |

Huh, that actually works. Thanks. Really? Classics Roddy out articulates the original by miles, but you say it sucks because it lacks bicept swivels? Wow. I don't hate him, he's just not that good. The fact that the mold has a properly detailed vehicle interior is really nice. Which raises the question of why Battle in Space Rodimus replaced all the translucent plastic with opaque plastic. |

The am exhausts are just not very prominent details anymore. What disturbs me was that one concept art that was circulating prior to his release that had even LESS prominent exhausts. -------------------- |

Yeah, I am NOT a fan of Classics Rodimus, and I really hope he gets a better mold. Oh, don't get me wrong. I don't think he's awesome. I just think he's a leap better than G1 Hot Rod, which is kind of the point of this conversation I thought. I wouldn't mind a new deluxe one bit. Really? Classics Roddy out articulates the original by miles, but you say it sucks because it lacks bicept swivels? And those bicep swivels are only there because of the transformation in the first place. The am exhausts are just not very prominent details anymore. What disturbs me was that one concept art that was circulating prior to his release that had even LESS prominent exhausts. Yeahhh... Don Figueroa's concept of Classics Hot Rod downplays a lot of things I'd rather not see downplayed, so I'm glad we got what we got instead. Plus it isn't be saddled with big horizontal shoulder plates and a circa-06 Don face. -------------------- Fall of Cybertron will blow your mind. That is all.

I always thought TM2 Megatron was a disappointing follow-up to TM Megatron.
I realize that may make me sound insane in some circles. -------------------- |

Really? Classics Roddy out articulates the original by miles, but you say it sucks because it lacks bicept swivels? Wow. You leave out two of my other complaints and pick out one item in order to paint my complaint as invalid. Wow. If you MUST know... 1) He's too short for my tastes. 2) That scowl is not very Hot-Roddish, and makes him look grouchy. 3) His head is tiny. 4) No bicep swivels and subpar arm articulation overall. 5) Hip-flaps interfere with leg articulation. Is he better articulation-wise when compared to the original? Of course he is. That's not even in question here. He is, however IMHO inferior in that regard to other toys he was released alongside. Because of my issues with him I'd like to see another update, just like people who hate the Universe Prowl/Silverstreak/Smokescreen would like to see a new version of that mold as well. -------------------- |
