Here is the second masterpiece from the fine folks at Fansproject. This figure is an amazing figure, but he has some faults. I thoroughly recommend him...if you can find him. It took me two years.

He's fantastic... up until the knees start giving out. They aren't well designed and wear out really fast. What's worse is that there really isn't a way to fix them.

I think there was a trick to getting the blade to store underneath the vehicle mode. I can't remember what it was, but I remember I had to research it. The sword does seem flimsy, but I remember Vangelus demonstrating that you could bend it quite a bit without stressing it. It's more durable than you think.
I always liked the helicopter mode on this figure better than the vehicle, and I really like how the guns are parts of those modes. Your review does highlight the problems though because nothing's elegant about the transformation. It works, but nothing's intuitively guiding you from step to step. Even with the problems, I never regretted the purchase. He looks great in every mode. (IMG:http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff116/qaztab/CIMG3656.jpg) He fits in suprisingly well with deluxe class figures, the Titanium Rodimus & Magnus as well as Igear Arcee. |

You know I noticed the knee thing too but really attributed it to the diecast. I really dislike it for that reason alone. Ob well when I move I will just pack him up in robot mode. Elegant he is not, but awesome he is. -------------------- A lesson for you to remember, "Never hate anything so much that cancer is chosen to teach you otherwise. After the ratchet notches ground themselves into powder, I managed to drip some liquid superglue down into the gaps, and that seemed to tighten things up fairly well. I think I need to go back and touch it up a bit, though. Not quite even in the tightness level. But he actually stands better than he used to, demonstrating that he's actually got pretty good balance even without heels, it was just his knees crapping out on him. |

it always seems to be that there are at least 1 or 2 stickers on a Reprolabel 'upgrade' set that seem to be placed 'precariously'
agreed that it sucks when it happens, but that isn't really a fault of the toy. -------------------- ![]() |

The sword does seem flimsy, but I remember Vangelus demonstrating that you could bend it quite a bit without stressing it. It's more durable than you think. The sword fits into a little slot on the pelvis in armored car mode, if I recall. The handle points toward the back. He's fantastic... up until the knees start giving out. I really dislike it for that reason alone. Ob well when I move I will just pack him up in robot mode. The diecast was kind of irritating to me since it makes him a bit top heavy, but the knees are just a case of plastic grinding against plastic until the teeth no longer catch each other. They really needed to put a proper spring loaded ratchet in there. He's fantastic... up until the knees start giving out. They aren't well designed and wear out really fast. I tried, but the super glue ended up grinding off after about three or four transformations. -------------------- Fall of Cybertron will blow your mind. That is all.

The knee joint problems have seriously made me question selling this guy amd getting the upcoming Asian Springer retool of Tomahawk. It boggles my mind that Fansproject could screw this up so bad.

Eh, he's still more Springer than that retool will ever be. I'd say hold on to him for a while, since I or someone else will probably find a solution.

I have settled for keeping him since it took so long to get him. I eagerly await your solution!
