How about Gerard Butler as Thor? He certainly looks right for part in these pics of him as Beowulf in the documentary Wrath of Gods...

Pic 1
Pic 2

300 made Gerard Butler just famous enough that he could be bankable as Thor. And Thor would make him a star.

So now that I've had that stroke of brilliance, who would make the best Cap? I'll go with Viggo Mortensen...

Pic 2

Again, not a megastar, but known and bankable. Just like RDJ was.

There is only one person with the red, white and blue balls to be Capitan America: Stephen Colbert.

Besides, he already has the shield.

From what I was reading, Marvel wants Triple H, dont know how true that is though.

Dear God No.

Dear God YES.

Triple H could pull it off. He's got the hair right. Just shave his beard off and he's practically Thor.

I heard Marvel was trying to get Brad Pitt for Captain America.

Though I hope to god that is a line of BS.

While marvel might have that kind of clout now, I don't want to see the Avengers movie ruined by prissy/spoiled superstars.

and HHH is already Thor. He just doesn't use thunder in the ring.

Brad Pitt's actually a very capable actor. I'm sorry you feel the need to judge him simply because he's popular amongst women.

You've got my judging all wrong.

I'm judging him based on the size of his celebrity.

A mega-star like him, cruise, will smith, johnny depp, etc... is excessively expensive and BUSY BUSY BUSY

How many sequels do you think they could hold a guy like him to? He does tons of projects every year and likely won't want to be tied to a franchise for too long. Not to mention his increasing focus on family and charity.

Plus, I can only imagine creative issues. We have enough of that with Ed Norton in the Incredible Hulk. Norton is taking over and irritating the director and co. I can only imagine someone with Pitt's status doing the same thing.

And where the hell did his popularity with women even come into play? I didn't say anything along those lines.

Brad Pitt's average payday on movies is less than John Favereu got
paid to direct Iron Man. Also, he's done about 2 flicks a year, which
is actually less than RDJr, who does about 3 a year (albeit smaller
indie flicks usually).

These films hinge on their actors working in the part and I'm more
than willing to have an amazing film that I have to wait 4 years for
a sequel to if every film that comes out is amazing and classic.

Also, both Norton and the Director have said that the "issues" were
entirely blown out of proportion by the online media, and that only
happened because Norton is a very talented screenwriter who Marvel
hired to write the script as well as star.

HHH would be ridiculous as Thor. I don't care what he looks like and I doubt Marvel Studios will risk a big budget movie on a pro wrestler's acting chops.

Just because Triple H looks like Thor doesn't mean he can act and no one is quite stupid enough to place the fate of a multi-million dollar movie on the shoulders of a professional wrestler(who's screen credits include Blade Trinity. Ugh.)

Go Gerard Bulter. He proved he can pull of the over the top, ridiculous style character in 300.

I think that they'll go Ragnarok for the Thor movie, and then have a human find the hammer at the end of the movie and then show up during the Avengers as a more Ultimateized version.

Which would be just fine.

I dont like the fact of big name stars playing the roles of Cap and Thor. Its worked out pretty good for Spider-Man, Superman, and Batman. With Ghost Rider....I was split. I dont think you needed a big name like Cage to sell the movie, but GR is Cages fav and IIRC he even has a GR tat on his arm? So there you at least think you would get a 100% performance from him instead of somebody just lookin for a check. And I think he did an awesome job on it. Ironman...to me...Downy Jr is not all that big of an actor...at least not until now. So that worked good. So, I say go out and find some no names or C list movie actors to play the roles. Cap and Thor are big enough that you dont need a big name actor to sell the movie.

Robert Downy Jr. WAS a big name actor for a long time. However, he went through a rough couple years due to substance abuse. It took years for him to rebuild his image, staying clean and doing small roles in indy movies. Iron Man was his big return to the spotlight.

He's a big name actor, just one that was a washout for a little while. Look at Tom Cruise. He's still a mega-star, but his last few films weren't the greatest. Even the tabloids are commenting on his flailing career.

Well thats why I said TO ME Downy Jr wasnt a big star...I really dont think I saw any of his movies before Iron Man but I had heard of him. Acctualy got him and Harry Conick Jr mixed up in my head when I first heard who was playin Iron Man. Forgot in my previous post....Ben Aflack as Dare Devil..HORRIBLE.

Tom Cruise...you can give me Cocktail, Days Of Thunder, and Top Gun anyday, maybe even Risky Buisness....but as for some of his movies in the late 90's and 2000's...nah. But lets not get off subject.

I think finding somebody who has done a few Indy movies or had some small bit roles would be a good fit for Thor and Iron Man. I could see HHH as Thor...but I think he is better as a villan in a movie. Im still hoping for a future Spider-Man movie since they are talkin about doin 4 and 5 together they use ol boy that played King-Pin in DD. At least keep some consitency in it. Also I have to ask, I saw in either a superhero movie comin out that Downy Jr is making an apperance as Tony Stark...anybody else heard about this? Ill go look it up real quick.

*edit and answer* Playing Tony Stark in The Incredible Hulk according to IMDB
