My son has his own DS now(hand me down from his mother) and i'm looking into what games to get for him.
They can't be heavy on reading, he's still learning to read and gets frustrated if there are too many long words. Pretty much just looking for games he can plug in and start playing. So far I've got Carnival Games for him, which he likes alot. Any other good ideas? |

Kirby Ultrastar DS.
This was my favorite game on SNES when it came out and is still in my top 5 favorite games EVER. The DS version is supposed to have extra content too... So... I bet it's better. Lol. But yeah. That, and any of the mario bros advance games (if you dont already have something like Mario Superstars on the snes) but "NEW mario bros" sucks (IMHO). Man, it's too bad the difficulty has been ramped up on the megaman games, or I'd definetly suggest Zx2. -------------------- Aaaaah the joys of summer.

My 5 year old likes to swiper her sister's Nintendogs game and play that. Might be worth a look.

But can I weaponize it? That's the important thing. ![]() Group: Supporter Posts: 17,231 Joined: 3-May 05 From: In my pants! Member No.: 6,473 Faction: Cannonball's Pirate Crew |
New Super Mario Bros. is good for plug-in-and-play.

My nephew can't do platformers, he keeps walking into the enemies without jumping.
So I put him on Streets of Rage 2 last night when he stayed over and he did quite well. Okay, so he was on the easiest difficulty setting but he almost defeated the second boss (Jet) by himself. I suspect he spammed the special move and kept dying a lot. But still, he only turned four a month ago. |

What about Pokemon? Is that too much reading for that age?
Lego Star Wars/Indy/Batman would be good I think, just make sure you don't get Lego Star Wars: Original Trilogy. That game is an unplayable mess and should be avoided at all costs. Get the Complete Trilogy instead. -------------------- |
