So, like alot of people I've not seen hide nor hair of Wave 3 RiD Prime toys (or wave 2 of the Voyagers for that matter). Every store around here is either stocked to the core with Bumblebee or has only a few figures left who are also all Bumblebee. Went to three stores on the weekend (including two beyond my usual hunting ground) the results were 30+ RiD BBs and not a single other Deluxe Prime toy. SO... I mentioned in passing that the Hasbro online store has the wave for sale but only by the case for $92. Surprising me my wife said, without prompting of any sort, "Y'know it's fine if you want to just buy a case and sell off the extras." This is reletively surprising to me because normally if "I" suggested spending $92 dollars on Transformers in one go myself I'd get a look and/or a lecture about money. She may be tired of being dragged to stores that never have what I want anyway. ;p But woooo, spousal permission! Thing is I'm debating if it's something I really wanna do. The toys in the Case fall into catagories: WANT Vehicon Hot Shot x1 DON'T NEED BUT ARE OK Bumblebee Knock Out x1 HAVE ALREADY/DUBBLE IN CASE Arcee Ratchet Hot Shot Knock Out So the question is, is it worth buying a case for two figures I want and two I'm neutral on. And will I be able to sell off Arcee, Ratchet, Hot Shot and Knock Out with anything approaching ease to make back some of the cost... Good deal or no? It's not the sort of thing I'd usually do, but I'm getting to the point where I'm kinda expecting to never see these in stores... -ZacWilliam, if this happens with Generations cases will be bought, but Prime is just slightly less must own that I debate... -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

Given Canada has yet to get Wave 2, I did this for wave 3. Sold the extra Hotshot/Knock Out to another collector, and I now have a Bumblebee that needs unloading.
I'd say if you're in the US, it's an iffier proposition given you guys have better distribution, but with later waves, it definitely becomes more palatable as the individual figures you want in a wave of repeats would likely be marked up anyway. -------------------- BT Toons - updates Tuesdays and Fridays. I wouldn't bother as I don't care enough about the figures myself (I saw Wave 3 minus the Vehicon this weekend) but it's my understanding that Wave 2 and 3 are hard enough to find that you could probably sell guys that are not Bumblebee for roughly retail.
As for Bumblebee you could probably sell him at a loss, give it to a kid that wants him, or be unscrupulous and try to return him to Walmart without a receipt (depending on how your moral stance is on that). Randy -------------------- ![]() |

You're going to have as much luck selling off those unwanted ones as the stores are.

Randy Oh please let's not start THAT again. Anyway, depending what, if anything, is known about G2 FOC Bruticus by the time the regular retail assortment hits, I'm considering ordering the full case just to eliminate having to pursue the individual units in the wild. But this isn't something I would generally think of doing if it wasn't a case with five figures each packed one to a box where missing any of their number affects the rest of them. And it has its drawbacks, like having to accept I will probably be stuck with a Jazz and two Primes I just don't want at all. Zac, if the want of a Vehicon is motivating this, I'd wait until the wave 4 revision circulates, where it's supposed to have two Vehicons. You're probably more likely to see some in stores at that point. --------------------

Yeah I don't want to go down that road either.
Back on topic, you could also try ordering the Japanese one (provided you don't mind paying about double). That is if any preorders are still open. Or you could try ordering the Hasbro version at a markup as it might not be worth the time and effort to get rid of the rest just for one figure. Randy -------------------- ![]() |

I went with the wave 3 case myself... fortunately I found one of my friends was interested in three of the box so that made the choice a lot easier. Also the free shipping for orders over $50. I only ended up with one duplicate, I think.

If you have another collector friend, it makes sense to split the costs. I've done this a few times, the last wave of PCC, the RTS Cliff Jumper case (we split which ones we wanted, I got Insecticon CJ, Grimstone and Hubcap), and FE. It defers the cost a bit and leaves less extras anyway.

Hmm... This IS a much better case assortment: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product...mp;picture=aux1 $20 more but significantly better selection for me. I'd probably end up keeping them all and just kitbashing Wheeljack. Mmmm. But still... $100 is a big layout on TFs for me. ($20-30 a month is usually my top) And Generations is coming, possibly SDCC Bruticus ( if he's available online for more that .05 astroseconds) and MP10 and maybe MP Thundercracker... And if the Club ever gets their sub service up...though that's probably far off... -ZacWilliam, still stuck on "maybe". I really prefer buying at retail, the stores full of BB are just soo frustrating... -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

No. Because experience has taught me that things filter in eventually. I check stores only every couple days tops (and usually then it's only one store on the way home from work), and I've got two Vehicons. Sure, it was a couple weeks of just seeing Hot Shot and Knock Out before I finally got my hands on them, but it happened.
And if something doesn't? I have a large group of friends and acquaintances across the nation (hell, the GLOBE) who can help if something ultimately doesn't show up in my neck of the woods. And even then? Did I NEED it that bad in the first place? Yeeeeeesssss, that's the product what I'm talking about in the entire first post... -ZacWilliam, the post is about whether I want to go for it vs wait and see if anything other than BB eventually hits retail here (which hasn't happened in months...) -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

I found a Wreck Gar three states away at a TJ Max, which is the only time I ever saw him in person.
Eventually he was all over the internet as low as 15 dollars when he had been selling for over 60. Don't be hooked by the waiting game. -------------------- |

Whatever, you expect me to read anything beyond the thread title? I AM FULL OF CAFFEINE RIGHT NOW! That aside, if your wife is onboard, do it. I've bought DC Universe Classics cases, and made my money back keeping only one figure and the build-a-figure parts. If you're willing to ship internationally, I can almost guarantee you will make your money back on ebay. It's a hassle, but it's worth it for the peace of mind. I mean, the figures are bumping up to $15 at retail, that's only a third of the cost of the case. -------------------- |
