I wouldn't mind a regular Spotlight series alongside the main Ongoing series (six Autobots and six Decepticons per year). If some Spotlights were part of a mini-series , like with Revelation then that would be acceptable. I had read that twelve Spotlights a year would result in scraping the bottom of the barrel for characters but I disagree. Maybe a third year of these would though.
Here would be what I would have liked the first two years of regular Spotlights to be (in no particular order). Some characters may have had dedicated mini-series previously or were the focus of a story arc but did not get their own specific Spotlight issue. AUTOBOTS Bumblebee, Ironhide, Wheeljack, Trailbreaker, Ratchet, Sunstreaker, Perceptor, Cosmos, Jetfire, Springer, Hot Spot, Silverbolt DECEPTICONS Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Megatron, Razorclaw, Swindle, Scorponok, Scourge, Fangry, Bludgeon, Thunderwing, Banzai-Tron |

Or they could mix in longer character focused stories so as not to 'run out' quite so fast. I keep harping over on the IDW board that the Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Drift miniseries along with Spotlight Prowl were effectively the first year of an ongoing Spotlight series. |

Roche and Roberts can do no wrong after Last Stand of the Wreckers. Love Roche's version of Prowl in AHM. While I've never liked Kup, Roche still gave us a great story with the Kup Spotlight. He's proven himself as both an artist and writer. Hopefully he and Roberts will turn their magic on mor obscure characters like Rotorstorm and Overlord.
My choices: Skram G2 Stormtroopers The Motorvators Acid Storm (needs some characterisation) The Robotmasters (would love to see Wingstun revealed as being G1 Waspinator) Soundblaster (independant character to Soundwave) Wouldn't mind seeing characters from other series retrofitted into G1 like Demolisher and Slipstream were in WFC. Love to see G1 version of Movie Barricade or Bonecrusher. |

How about a G1 Hot Shot story taking place before he died?

QUOTE("IDW Panel at NYCC") Four new Spotlights are in the works. Three names connected with the project: James Roberts, Nick Roche and Chris Mowry. May still be a little way off into the future though as it was not in the main IDW presentation. YOU MAY COMMENCE TROUSERS-SHATTERING NOW. |

If your pants are so brittle as that, maybe you should stop soaking them in liquid nitrogen.

But that's not a 12 spotlights a year, that's 3 that they've allowed to flesh out. I honestly prefer that. |

That kind of variety seems to work for G.I. Joe: Origins, like the two-issue Ripcord or three-issue Zartan stories. -------------------- ![]() |

How about a G1 Hot Shot story taking place before he died? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-primal.gif) Well that's silly. It wasn't Hot Shot. Denton said so. You fanboys and your "fascination with 'canon.'" Maybe if you paid ( (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif) ) |

We did already know the number, but the news of some of the creators is great.
That brings it to 5, and allows for the inclusion of SL:Prowl in the trade. |

Kill off Hot Shot in the background, rotating through all his repaints and whatnot, until they hit the Universe body, then have a panel where he throws up his hands, screams "Enough! I quit!" and just walks away, never to be seen again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) |

Well it works for kenny in South Park, who says it couldnt work for a transformers character. They never ask How kenny keeps coming back to life.
But then again, reviving robots is differant from reviving a human. |

Well, Optimus Prime's revival in AHM came across as a joke.

Hasn't IDW's stance on Spotlights been for the past year pretty much "Eventually"?
And Roche/Roberts isn't a huge surprise considering how well received they are. Also Mowry. So now we know the issues are coming sooner rather than later, but I'm not going to go from eager to excited until I hear who the characters are (which really still isn't a big deal since there's no such thing as a bad character, only bad writing). I hope they don't give any repeat characters. Skywarp is overdue. -------------------- |
