Also, there was no mention of Celestia or Luna and yet they appeared on the flag at the end. I think the story still leaves a lot of questions unanswered. Now that my nitpicks are out of the way, I though that episode was great! I loved Pinkie and AJ's characters in the play, though annoyingly my connection went bad during the map scene so I missed most of that. Derpy peeping through the curtain and waving (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif) I liked that Star Swirl the bearded got a mention. A nice little callback to Luna Eclipsed. And we got nice festive song as well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) Edit: Actually, regarding Star Swirl, he's from the Pre-Classical era right? So this story, I assume, will have taken place prior to Celestia and Luna's rule (and Discord)? I wonder if we'll ever get an episode dealing with the early days of the Princesses? Presumably one of the condensations was the use of the modern Equestrian banner rather than the original. Unless Celestia and Luna were symbolic from the start, but became real once everyone believed in them....

So I take it Canterlot was founded by Unicorns, then? The song at the end was pretty sappy, but aren't all Christmas carols? Rarity putting her crown on upside down was probably the funniest part for me. Well, that and Pinkie's whole "think inside the chimnee" bit coupled with Applejack's passive aggressiveness.. The pictures of the pegasus-unicorns on the Equestrian flag were probably just symbolic of the unification of the three tribes, especially since the hair/skin colors don't match up with the other stain glass imagery of how Luna and Celestia looked. I guess this means Luna and Celestia never knew Starswirl. Pity we didn't get to see him. At least now we can vaguely split Equestrian ages up: Pre-Classical Age - Age when tribes were separate living outside Equestria Classical Age - Founding of Equestria up until Discord's rule I assume we can also throw an Age of Discord and a Golden Age for the thousand years plus Celestia ruled Equestria before reuniting with her sister. In Tolkien-esque terms, the show would roughly be taking place in the Fourth Age of Equestria.

I don't think it did much damage (if any) to anybody's Equestria origin fanfics. Though, I personally do prefer to go with canon over fanon any day. Lots of Derpy appearances this time around. Once on the train on the way to Canterlot.... I really doubt that some of the names are real, as most seem to just sum up their one character trait. Puddinghead and Smart Cookie being the two that feel, in universe, are made up to just describe the dense Earth Pony leader and intelligent secretary. Pansy would be second or third, but that's also a flower. Some people (especially on some of the other pony fansites) have been freaking out whenever some new information comes along that conflicts with fanon, which is just silly.

I wonder what they would think of people with multiple headcanon's? (The series could easily be focused on pony shaped ORKS set in the alpha quadrant for instance XD) As to Nayuki, great episode work, though I don't know if you helped with it or not(I tend to mix everyone up) A question however that I forgot to ask a while back. In the Rainbow Dash Pet episode, when they were at the canyon there were these really nice looking mountains in the background with pointed tips, and combined with a very wild and natural in appearance forest everywhere it created a very vivid sense of scale and distance. This is of course compared to the usual set pieces like Ponyville and Canterlot with the nice orderly trees and rounded hills everywhere which have a more closed in feel. Are you able to tell us if we will be seeing more of those vast landscape sets in future episodes? Or if there are more plans to have them? One image I think would be amazing is a proper view of the landscape from a high flying pegasus or even cloudsdale miles up. I guess I ask because the show has everything available to legitimately have an excuse for new and unique as well as vast in scale landscapes, we just seem to have yet to have any excuse to see any...
