I'm actually looking forward to their depiction in the comic more than the actual toys.

(Don't get me wrong, I'll take the toys too, but no matter how they're colored they're really just gonna end up cannon fodder for someone)

With Botcon using tooling that Hasbro hasn't released yet, will some people mistakenly believe that Treadshot and Magnus have BotCon heads? I wonder whether we'll see complaints about "exclusive" sculpts people thought they were paying for being used on mass-market toys.

I've already seen other people make that mistake on other boards. That the heads like SG Magnus's and SG Treadshot's. I imagine that if Spinister (with Vortex's head) and a Junkion with Scrapheap's head (or heck even Junkheap's) are a reality they may assume the same thing there too.

Randy

I've been pondering how to deal with this on the datasheet, as well. Currently, Magnus and Treadshot have a red box, indicating no new molding done for the exclusive, which is true enough, but I'm toying with text (still in the red box) to say that the head is new, but created by Hasbro.

Just say it uses the toy's pre-existing alternate head.

I like that language. Language is really the key. I need it to convey everything important without taking up much space.

Update made.

How about "Alt head" and maybe a asterix at the bottom to explain more.

I like what I've got for now. The asterisk-hover feature doesn't really work well that far off to the right of the page, and so I try to avoid it on that column.

I know the Constructicons are already red & white, but I really want SG Swindle to be the Cybertronian equivalent of Santa Claus.

I would buy that if the included cassette came decoed like a wrapped present.

People have already been doing that all year, thinking Scrapheap's head is eHobby exclusive. I anticipate alot of misunderstanding with this set.

That's why everyone bought Wreck-Gar and nobody paid the Premium for e-Hobby Scrapheap right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

Or hell, why buy the boxset at all when you can purchase Jazz, Thunderwing, Bludgeon, RTS Optimus, Tracks, and Ironhide.

That's just hyperbolic nonsense and you know it. Total nonsense and one of the dumber things I've seen in this thread.
FP isn't going to produce something that looks damn near like stuff that's already on the shelf. Hell, I doubt Hasbro would let them produce a three pack of Junkions, all of which will end up having the exact same colors BTW. It makes no sense to produce over priced off color versions of figures that are pretty easy to get instead of doing what Botcon does and give them a whole new color scheme.

Yeah, I'm wondering why you think a Botcon set of Junkions would look exactly like Wreck-Gar, Scrapheap or Junkheap. All three of those look pretty dissimilar anyways.

Where did I say that?
The three would be identically painted. All three would look the same. While a bit different from what's on shelves they'd still be extremely similar if they kept them in Junkon colors.
I don't see where the confusion comes in.
It would be too similar. As in not different enough to merit FP doing it in the first place.

*ahem*Desaras*ahem*... new head, VERY similar redeco. And unlike that toy, these have a REASON to look similar to the other Junkions (they're ALL JUNKIONS). Don't forget that if you have an extra Wreck-Gar or Junkheap, you can swap parts with them to differentiate all three.

Do you honestly doubt these would sell out in normal colors too? I mean, how big do you think the Shattered Glass audience really is? Is it that much bigger than the numbers of people who paid WAY MORE to get Scrapheap? (again, the people who got that toy generally bought a $100 3-pack just for that one toy.) I can't be the only person who really isn't that moved by the SG toys (again, they're NEVER quite satisfying to me... it's always ALMOST giving me what I want, which actually kind of pisses me off).

I mean, shoot, why are we even pretending that these won't all sell out anyway? Even if they don't all sell out at the show, they will once they're on the website.

Speaking only for myself, I don't think it's that FP couldn't sell as many "regular" Junkions as SG ones, but that either Hasbro wouldn't let them do "regular" Junkions or (perhaps more likely) FP fears a Seekers-scenario whereby people complained about having to pay BotCon prices for toys that Hasbro could/should be doing at traditional retail.
