I figured this could be of some help to a lot people. This year, the convention center the con is in is right next store to a giant, seven story mall. This gives people a lot of food options.

First up, is the Food Court, located on level 3.
Ben & Jerry's
Cathay Cathay
Dale & Thomas Popcorn
Gourmet India
Japan Cafe
Johnny Rockets
Le Petit Bistro
Pizzeria Regina
Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits
Subway
Surf & Turf
Taco Bell

If sit down eating is more your style, there are options there as well.
Cafe Nordstrom
Chatters
Dave & Buster's
Fire + Ice
Joe's American Bar & Grill
Johnny Rockets
Napa Valley Grille
Nordstrom EBar
The Cheesecake Factory
Uno Chicago Grill

The mall it self is huge, and you can find out information on it from their own web site and via wikipedia.

http://www.providenceplace.com/html/index10.asp

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Providence_Place_Mall

The nice thing about this is convience, though if you want to eat at a local place, you can probally manage that a few blocks from the area too.

I would think there is some really good seafood in RI. Are there any in walking distance from the convention center?

Yeah, I definitely need to make a date with some fresh seafood while we're in RI. Maybe a softshell crab sandwich would be nice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif)

It'll be good to have a lot of places to eat close by, too. When there wasn't anywhere to eat in 2004, I just went most of the weekend without eating. 2006 wasn't too bad, since the convention center had a decent food court and some local places in easy walking distance.

Incidentally, I just noticed the other night that "Cheapside", the bar and grill where a big group of us ate in Lexington in 2006, is featured in a commercial about advertising for small businesses. Anyone else see that?

Oh, I'll be there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif)

There are lots of places in Providence to eat, heck, there are a ton in the mall's general area.
I plan on scoping out the best locations before I go. I have to head to Mike's Junk Yard Dogs at least once!

Don't know about Sunday, but definitely not on Saturday. There will be places open past 6 around the convention/mall area.

In '99 wasn't it just like a Subway for two blocks?

That was awful. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)
