Anyone know or have "awesome inside information" on whether there will be any "release day specials" at Best-Buy or Wally World for the DotM DVD release this week? I did some surfing/looking around, but didn't see anything detailed...

Best Buy has a couple different slipcovers for the Blu-Ray. Bumblebee and Shockwave if memory serves. Walmart has a Sentinel Prime cover for the Blu-Ray. Also, Packed in the Blu-Ray is a coupon for a few bucks off the Blu-Ray 3D release, whenever that comes out.

Germany has metal cases for the Blu-Ray as well as a Transforming Megatron case. France a particularly fancy box for the trilogy of movies that includes a cardboard Autobot symbol that you dissect to find the discs.

Other than that... Not much else has been reported.

Isn't this release just the bare-bones version, with a more complete edition coming in a couple of months?

Oh, well, then...I'll pass. There's really no point for me to buy a movie I saw a few months ago if that's all that's on the disc. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

Well, we know the 3-D will come out in a few months...did we ever find out if that will include any additional features, or will it basically be these releases, plus 3-D and that's it?

I also want to know who is getting a transforming case and for what version. (I'm assuming Target again, just because they had the other ones, IIRC.) I want to keep the theme going and have a transforming case for each film, and since we haven't gotten the Megatron released here yet, I'm hoping they'd go ahead and do it.

Sigh. I don't even bother to watch special features much, but I'd rather wait and see if anything interesting comes with the later versions. And if not, hey, the regular one will probably get marked down by then.

When a Transformers movie comes out on the day after my birthday (and a Friday, no less - no work the next day!) I'm buying it, special features or no. It's not like I have a TV that necessitates waiting for a 3D version, anyway.

Missed it, huh?

(A short eBay trawl might be in order. A little disc switching, and voila, you've got what you want.)

I have the transforming Optimus and Bumblebee cases as well, but the Megatron case was just a re-release of some kind of the first movie, so I ended up skipping it. Kind of disappointed that this won't even be the version of the DOTM DVD that I would want to get, I guess I could Redbox it to tide myself over for another couple months until the more comprehensive version comes out. I don't bother buying a lot of movies, so when I do, I want it to count.

I hadn't realized this. I might cancel my pre-order, though this one comes with a digital copy, which I could see not being included in the deluxe version.

That works, too.

(Granted, either way, Galenraff, you'd have a duplicate pair of discs from the first flick you may not want...)

Yeah, I'm not buying a second copy of the 2007 movie. I knew the case existed, but I didn't recall it being available domestically. Either way, I know i wasn't going to be buying it...just for a different reason than I had thought. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

I would like to see that case come with DOTM, though that's unlikely. Whatever, I just want *a* transforming case. Hopefully when the special editions roll around, we'll get one.
