I hope this is just an early test shot... Probably is, it has no chrome, the head is Ironhide's with a crest added on and the lights are from Prowl...
The color scheme looks inspired more by Rescue Ratchet than by G1 Ratchet. I wonder if Hasbro will do one, though. I'd have to see how they'd look before choosing one. I just wish that mold's crotch sat flat against the bottom of his torso. I don't like that gap. Won't stop me getting Ironhide though.
And Ratchet seems to be some kind of rescue vehicle not necessarily an ambulance. Thats fine. The markings make him more interesting than if he were completely white. Could it be Universe Ratchet instead and not Henkei Ratchet? This post has been edited by Bass X0: Nov 6 2008, 07:10 AM |

Hmm, I'll reserve judgment until some clearer (and perhaps, slightly more final) pictures show up.
But my first impressions aren't as positive as I'd hoped. His colour scheme doesn't quite mesh together for me. (I think it might be the black forearms/upper thighs and red head-flap that's throwing me off ) I do like the shoulder detailing though and it will be nice to finally retire my tow-line repaint ratchet from my classics shelf to make way for the real thing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-ironhide.gif) -------------------- My TF collection and customs: http://www.flickr.com/photos/id0ru/

I imagine Takara's will almost entirely be white.
I like the stripes though, and I'd be surprised if Takara would use Prowl's lightbar since they didn't use it on him. Not sure what kind of lightbars their ambulances have though. Randy -------------------- |

I'm not crazy about the black forearms, but they are far from a dealbreaker. I actually like him a lot.
I'd consider paying the $30 for him if he was a HenKei. Ironhide also had chrome lights which this one doesn't but a Henkei one would likely (like Sunstreaker & Sideswipe share the same chrome as does Prowl & Bluestreak, Starscream & Skywarp & Thundercracker, etc).

That looks way more like a Universe guy than a Henkei guy. It's not slavishly G1 enough by far. It takes way too many liberties.

I'm kinda surprised they added a crest after molding a perfectly usable (for Universe, anyway) one into Ironhide's existing head. Unless Takara decided they needed a closer head mold for Henkei, and Hasbro decided to go ahead and use that for Universe rather than just doing a lightbar swap-in.
