I don't think I've ever seen a well-dressed person in a BotCon photo or video.

That settles it then. When I finally go to a Botcon, and I will, I'll wear a 3-piece suit and tie.

You might as well say, "any large convention, ever." BotCon is tame. Trust me on this.

Yeah, that's unfair. Just go and revel in it. You gotta just embrace it. Its the best way.

Or be drunk. That's also a win/win situation.

Apparently, being drunk at BotCon is the quickest way to getting a job at IDW.

Wow, way to be open minded. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif)

I will admit that video clips don't make it look appealing, but it's nothing like what you see, but so much more.

There's always a good mix of people at Botcon, from people that most would consider well above average who have good hygiene, to many that you wonder if they ever leave the house. The key is to get a good group of people to come and enjoy the convention with you, and see the people watching aspect as nothing more than a fun diversion for the weekend.

I'm not sure what "well dressed" really means anyway. It's mostly a jeans and t-shirt kind of event, with a slightly dressier side in the semi-formal dinner on Saturday night.

Exactly. Its a con, a place to let your geek flag fly. Most people are gonna wear jeans/jean-shorts, and themed t-shirts.

Yes without these types of conventions/events I would have never met good people like Jeremy, Yertle, Spectre, Upsilon, The Muse, Skunkobot, Galenraff, NightViper, Onyx Minor, lonegamer8, Devcon, Daytonus, and Cheetimus Primal in person.

So I guess you would say that the first rule of being a BotCon attendee is "Stick Together"? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif)

I can only imagine that those videos aren't exactly focusing on the 'normal' people there, as they would be pretty boring. I mean, which would you find more amazing/shocking? A bunch of greasy out-of-their-heads nerds and people in silly costumes or a bunch of clean cut, washed people in t-shirts and jeans sitting and listening to some other equally clean-looking person talk for half an hour about the upcoming figures and comics?

I don't personally care for themed t-shirts, but Annoying Host Guy pulls it off a decent outfit with one. There are options besides suits and ill-fitting shirts and jeans! (All denim shorts are to be thrown in a fire to appease our Predacon overlords.)

I tend to wear slacks... well, okay, I ALWAYS wear slacks, never been a fan of jeans... and a simple collared shirt. Nothing fancy, but nothing ratty. The dinner, I'll break out a silk shirt, and probably a tie next year Just Because.

The ratty clothes are for the drive to BC. I really could not give a crap less about my appearance in the middle of a day-long car trip in summer.

Heck, I've been to job fairs where people insisted upon dressing as tacky as possible; jive like that just doesn't bother me any more.

I recall one time in which a girl insisted upon wearing what could only be charitably described as "skank wear." When she squatted down in order to fill out an application, she ended up flashing her butt (tramp stamp and all) to no less than three sets of recruiters.

Of course, that was the same job fair in which we had a recruiter in tie-die...
