Dear Transformers and GI JOE Fans ( and comic book fans everywhere ),
I wanted to show you what I consider to be the future of comic books. It's called Motion Comics, and it's taking the page right from a book and adding amazing animation, top SAG voice talent, SFX and music to bring a whole new experience to an audience that craves something other then the conventional flat comic book. I'm proud to have co-directed, cast and also contributed my voice to "Sparks", the first motion comic book ever on the iPhone/iTouch, and the first motion comic book to include lip-synch.
My partners and I will be alerting you about a great deal of exciting new projects to be announced in the next few months, and you can bet we will be pushing this technology even farther.
I have been in many of your lives for the past 40 years and I would love for you to give Sparks a look and judge it for yourself. I believe this is just the beginning of an exciting future for the comic book. I hope you are on board with me.

I'll be working out a contest with my buddies here at the Allspark so you can get some free schwag, so stay tuned.

Here is the press release to learn more.

Fraternally yours,
Michael Bell

--------

"SPARKS PART 2", the first-ever iPhone/ iTouch motion comic book with lip-synch——released by Catastrophic Comics

Voiced by Hollywood actors Michael Paré, William Katt, and Michael Bell

(July 9, 2009) Los Angeles—"Sparks Part 2,” the first motion comic book with lip-synch, created specifically for the iPhone and iTouch, is proudly presented by Catastrophic Comics. The SPARKS PART 2 Application, which includes original artwork, in addition to the original motion comic, can be downloaded for 99 cents at the iTunes Store (keywords: "Sparks Part 2" or "Catastrophic Comics"). A superhero noir-thriller that was published as a comic book series in 2008, “Sparks” bridges the gap between the printed page and full-fledged animation.

"Part 2” is voiced by actors Michael Paré ("Eddie and the Cruisers"), Michael Bell ("Transformers"), Charlie Brill ("Star Trek"), Kevin Sherwood ("Gamers"), Courtenay Taylor (“Justice League Heroes”), and Ashley Bell ("United States of Tara").

***Please contact us to book interviews with Michael Paré, co-creator, William Katt ("The Greatest American Hero", NBC's "Heroes") , Michael Bell (“Transformers”), Ashley Bell (“United States of Tara”), and Christopher Folino (writer/ director "Gamers"). Pre-taped interview footage is also available on request.

Here the direct link to Sparks Part 2 for sale on iTUNES:

***Michael Pare, William Katt, and Michael Bell are available for interviews via email, phone and will also be appearing at San Diego Comic-Con, Saturday July 25, 2009 at the Catastrophic Comics booth #2109

"This won't be Robot Chicken style, where they draw the mouths moving, which, for the record, I love Robot Chicken. However, our Animation Director, Sean Ruge, did an amazing job perfecting the lip-synch. It really adds to the overall story without looking like a big bowl of cheese", commented William Katt, co-owner and executive producer of Catastrophic Comics.

"Sparks Part 2 will be a standard for this genre for a very long time. This is the future of comics and it will reach a whole new audience which a traditional comic book is incapable of doing", stated Christopher Folino, writer and co-director of the Sparks series.

At the moment then, this exists as just an app for the iPhone/iTouch, rather than a video for the iPod?

From what I'm being told, this is an App because it includes both the motion comic as well as the regular comic.

And the staff is working out details for a contest to be revealed shortly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif)

It'd be greatly coincidential if you'd voiced the GIJoe character Sparks in the old Sunbow GIJoe cartoon too.

sounds very cool, however I don't use an iphone.

You've done a lot of cool characters M.Bell, was surprised to read you're even in Condemned2:Bloodshot which was a game I really enjoyed. Transformers, GIJoe, Star Trek, video games. You're right you really have been involved in a lot of things I enjoyed for the past 30 years.

Thanks for that.

Hey Michael,
You should consider some of the voice actors from tfcog.com for your project. I used them in my animated Transformers War Within comic, and was highly pleased with the results.

For an example, here's a link to the first part of episode 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KN5RkRYsru0...feature=related and part 2 of the same 'toon here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2w8_37549M...feature=related

Myself, I'm just the animator, so I'm not trying to get anything for myself, but many of them are trying very hard to break into the voice acting, and would be falling over themselves to work with you on a project.

Hey BB, I've told Brandon over at TFCog to invite any and everyone who would like to participate over for the contest. The only requirement is to be registered as an Allspark user, and that's easy to do (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-hotrod.gif) Bring em all over!

Are there any rules on postcount to enter? I'm a huge bell fan (I loved his work on Gi Joe) and would love a shot at his autograph so I would love to give it a whirl.

I thought we were avoiding Sparks in Transformers because of the whole underwear-catching-fire thing.
