Well, everything was closed today, but I found out my 750 gig laptop hard drive died... so one of those soon, and probably some more ram for the netbook. I want an ebook reader at some point too...
Might be an expensive week. -------------------- |

Not a good time to have to buy a new hard drive.
I picked up a new TV on boxing day; a 3-D model, for the heck of it. Figure TRON:Legacy and most animated movies available on 3-D Blu-Ray will look good, anyway. This post has been edited by TM2-Megatron: Jan 1 2012, 07:00 PM -------------------- ![]() |

With my first paycheck of the new year I purchased two Wappy Dog DS games. It's basically a DS game that comes with a robotic dog that interacts with the game. I bought them even though my DS has been broken for a year now because I must have every robotic or animatronic toy dog released. I bought two despite already having one because I like to have multiples. I'm wierd.

I bought the Lego Black Pearl and Queen Anne's Revenge, technically this was with a paycheck from last year, but it was supposed to be for this year/months rent....

Figure TRON:Legacy and most animated movies available on 3-D Blu-Ray will look good, anyway. Well yes, but actually finding the movies isn't as easy as you'd think. When I went to FYE, they're 3D section was about the width of my desk drawer. And in general, the 3D sets I've seen are 3 packs, that make you get a blu-ray, 3d blu-ray, & DVD together. The best place to look, might be Amazon.com, just to let you know. Of course, haven't checked out (or had a chance to check) Best Buy just yet. Picked up Pirates: On Stranger Tides 3D & it's a Trap today. This post has been edited by Kevin S: Jan 1 2012, 09:46 PM -------------------- My FlickR folder...
And yes, I was too lazy to come up with a decent TF related forum name, and just *GASP* used my own. |

I was into a Best Buy just before christmas, and picked up TRON:Legacy in its 3-D three-pack (or four, technically, since it also included an iTunes version download) edition. When I was there they also had Toy Story 1 and 2 (I saw these in 3-D in the theatre back when they briefly released them as a double showing, and the 3-D effect was surprisingly well-done) on the shelf, along with a few other recent titles. I don't imagine there'll be much trouble finding them again.
As far as the combo pack goes, I actually don't mind getting the regular Blu-Ray and DVD along with the 3-D Blu-Ray. For one, the new 3DTV isn't the only HD set in my place; but the other one isn't 3-D, nor is its Blu-Ray player even capable of playing back a 3-D disc afaik, so the other copy will be useful for that. And the DVD is a heck of a lot faster to rip into the computer than a Blu-Ray, if I want to make a digital copy for a small-screen portable player. And if someone wants to borrow the movie, I could just lend them the DVD and still be able to watch it from either of the Blu-Rays. Well, just in case, make sure your Blu player's downloaded & installed all the latest updates. I know the PS3 is 3D compatible, thanks to updates. Not sure if this is true of any other brand player, but it couldn't hurt to check. -------------------- My FlickR folder...

Replaced the headphones I used on my computer at home, the ones I use on my iPod, and the bought a new set of earbuds (in hopes that they'll work better than the old iPod buds I had laying around and have been using at the gym). All Sennheisers, but, ironically, two of three are less expensive than the items they're replacing, and sound better.
In the next few days, hopefully, I'll be replacing my car's front windshield (I caught a rock a couple weeks ago, but the weather here has been aggravating the problem faster than I expected). Ideally, before the freeze-thaw cycle here causes it to fall in. And, then, I hope, nothing for at least a month. Bought the hard drive and ram from newegg to the tune of 158 and some change. Spent about 22 on megablocks kits and figs today as well. I was also so close to purchasing a kobo touch that there was physical strain in walking away. My right shoulder literally hurts from the stress of it. But I just don't 1.) need it or 2.) can justify the expense. I'm doing some traveling this year, so I need to keep the netbook in shape for that, but I can read without the kobo.
Probably splurge on it later though, once I get some decent income again. -------------------- |

For $80, its not that bad of a price, and the books are cheaper for it than the hardcovers are, so you'll save money with it over the long term. -------------------- |
