I do have some interest in playing it due to it being an amalgam of Sony first party/exclusive, characters and my interest in crossover games. It'll be weird playing as Sweet Tooth without him being in an Ice Cream truck, but I'll adapt.
That said, I hope they polish this thing up a bit more before release. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2012/04...ghting-game.ars QUOTE While Nintendo is arguably the console maker best known for its wide stable of easy-to-milk established franchises, Sony has been building up its own impressive roster of exclusive series over the last couple of decades. So it's not that much of a shock that the company is throwing many of its biggest titles together into a Smash Bros.-style fighting game it's calling PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale.
The game's official unveiling, which comes after months of rumors, shows off gameplay that seems taken directly from the Smash Bros. playbook, with up to four 3D characters darting quickly around vast, platform-filled 2D playfields. While Smash Bros. is focused on knocking characters off the edge of the stage, however, Battle Royale has players using small attacks to fill a meter that can be used to unleash three levels of elaborate special moves, which are the main method of scoring kills. Newcomer developer Superbot Entertainment has so far shown off six characters from Sony's back catalog: God of War's Kratos, Killzone 2's Colonel Radec, and Twisted Metal's Sweet Tooth will fight alongside Sly Cooper, Parappa the Rapper, and the Fat Princess herself. Each character's specific moves and abilities are heavily inspired by their games—Sly Cooper, for instance, can sneak around invisibly rather than blocking. Each of the game's levels seems to draw inspiration from two highly distinct titles from the Sony universe as well. One stage sees the tiny black creatures from Patapon invading the hellish world of God of War, for instance. Another features quiz questions from the Buzz! series interrupt a stage being built using LittleBigPlanet's level editor. The developers have promised many more Sony franchises will be announced for inclusion in the game by June's E3 expo, which should have fans of series like Uncharted licking their lips in anticipation. There are even promises that a few third-party franchises will be included in the final mix, which has us hoping against hope that the Prince of All Cosmos will be able to roll up any competitor that dares to get in his way. We really need all the video game companies cooperate and make Super Smash Everything. I want to have a fight between Sonic, Phoenix Wright, the King of All Cosmos, and Master Chief.

Soooo, a more legitimate/modern version of M.U.G.E.N., maybe? This post has been edited by Asquian: Apr 27 2012, 03:35 PM |

It looks neat. Name is a mouthfull.
In reality it could be the best thing to ever come to fighting games and it would still never raise out of the "Smash Brothers Ripoff" sign already hung around its neck by gamers. |

If they were to have Ratchet and Clank in there with The Prince and/or King of the Cosmos I'd be all over it.

Interesting that there are no Naughty Dog or Insomniac guys in there.
I wouldn't expect Spyro or Crash, but I at least need Jak. -------------------- |

I take it you never played the Sweet Tour mode of Twisted Metal: Head-On's PS2 port. That had Sweet Tooth out of his truck. This will be wierd for the most part. Sly and Parappa are cool, but isn't Kratos from an M-rated game? Would any character from M-rated games have to be toned down like Solid Snake was for SSBB? I will get this when I get a PS3. Glad to see Parappa back in action. -------------------- Leader of the Littlest AllSpark, a faction worshipping everything Zoe Trent (and Pepper Clark and all the other Littlest Pet Shop pets.) Sonic and Old Snake for All-Stars!
Then include a stage containing references/spoilers for Metal Gear Rising, like what happened for MGS4 in Brawl! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) -------------------- |

If they were to have Ratchet and Clank in there with The Prince and/or King of the Cosmos I'd be all over it. Well, they've shown a Ratchet & Clank stage so far. The GoW hydra busts up through it and eats Captain Quark. --LBD "Nytetrayn" -------------------- |

There is word of third party suport as DLC, so I wouldn't be suprised to see former Playstation excluives like characters from Tekken and even Crash and Spyro enter the ring.
Now, where's Jak, Ratchet, Cole, Nathan, Sackboy, and Sir Dan? -------------------- Leader of the Littlest AllSpark, a faction worshipping everything Zoe Trent (and Pepper Clark and all the other Littlest Pet Shop pets.) Bronies are welcome, as long as they don't start trouble.
