Fansproject updated their webside with prototype shots of the armor in trailer mode, as well as a clearer sketch of the robot mode.

See it here.

Sweetness; already looks awesome, and we know these guys deliver when it comes to a great final product. I like how the rear spoiler integrates; I was about to note the lack of the yellow spoiler above the cockpit of the car, but then I noticed that the v-fin IS there, just not painted yet.

I hope I can manage to get my paws on this, seeing as I missed out on purchasing city commander.

Not feeling it, based on this image. Gonna wait till there's a physical prototype.

Yeah, he apparently gets a new second spoiler to mimic the Rodimus Prime one, kind of faking it since it doesn't connect to his original one.

Didn't notice it before. Still, on a sports car, the giant box looks very tacked on, it doesn't at all match the style of the base toy. So, still not feeling it.

I like the way the wings poke through the sides. Now to wait for a robot mode pic.

I agree with TMM. The proto looks too much like a sportscar backed into a toolshed. Maybe the finished product will look more cohesive. :/

Not to go off topic... however... HeyMickey, today's Avatar looks like Toni Bassle (sp?) just got rescued from a fire.

Well, colour will help some. But the problem is that they're trying to replicate Rodimus' winnebago altmode using Hot Rod's vehicle mode as the cab, and there's no real way around the problem. Hot Rod has a very sleek, low-riding profile, whereas Rodimus' G1 form had a much more blunted cab. So in the end, I think it does the job as well as can be expected, given the circumstances. I think it looks alright. Not the most natural of vehicle modes, but it's not terrible.

And like Magnus, he'll be spending most of his time in 'bot mode anyways, which looks killer.

Yes, knowing a release date and price would help me plan for this quite well.

I'm sure I'll bite.

I wonder if they'll make one with a chrome yellow spoiler for Henkei Hot Rodimus?

I think the vehicle mode will look better once the set is colored, but it's still going to be awkward either way. Fortunately, 75% or so of my interest in the set is for the robot mode.
