Don't fail to see Nyarlathotep if he comes to Providence. He is horrible — horrible beyond anything you can imagine — but wonderful. He haunts one for hours afterward. I am still shuddering at what he showed.

The frosting is probably made from the blood of your enemies.

I remember how big a deal "Descent" was because they added the third dimension to the mix - that was a fun game.

Some of my friends at the local bakery today. Yes, that is who you think it is in the back. He is quoted as saying "God! This is really good!" to the cookies, which were vegan oatmeal and snickerdoodle. I've had the snickerdoodle, and yes Mr. President, God, they are really good.

Unfortunately, Marilyn Hagerty was not there at the same time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif)

It even had the glitch/feature where you could go forward, strafe left/right AND slide up/down at the same time for triple speed.

Is that still in FPS? I always thought that was fun, although it doesn't really make sense.

Is it really 'triple' speed? Seems like it would be more likely to cause you to move around 1.7-1.8x or something (i.e. sqrt(3), the length of the vector [1, 1, 1], which would describe your velocity when moving at 1 unit/time in all three directions). (I never played Descent, so I don't really know.) You were piloting a ship in Descent, though, so it's not crazy to argue that it could apply thrust in all three direction independently, which ought to produce a similar effect.

I don't pay enough attention to know if any modern FPS works that way. I don't think so.

I have no idea what the speed really is. Its been a long time since I've played it, and I didn't really have a set up to do it back then. Really I just used triple to emphasize the three directions.

And yeah it does make way more sense in Decent than in say Goldeneye.
