The Japanese version is kinda... dry. I mean, it's just kinda dull or typical or I dunno. I thought it was really boring.
Saban's version was genius. Loved it. |

I still occasionally call my friends Fred because of this show. I believe I'm gonna have to buy it.

Isn't that because the Japanese version was just "normal" in as far as such a thing can be, where as the Saban version was mostly "I DON'T KNOW WHATS GOING ON BUT I'M EXCITED!" basically translating everything via context cues and a hell of a lot of guessing? |

Wow, really want this; the Japanese version also interests me out of morbid curiousity to see just how different things were.

Exactly. The writers didn't speak a word of Japanese. They just watched the episodes raw, trying to figure out what the Hell was going on (and, admitedly, without any sort of context, the original Japanese series was pretty weird). The result was glorious. |

Oh wow, it's been forever since I saw that show... I can't even remember if I liked it or not, but I remember watching quite a few episodes, so I must have liked it to some degree.
... what an odd position to be in XD In any case, here's my chance to find out! -------------------- |

The whole thing was done very loosely and they just had fun with it. Hell, the singer was drunk off his ass when they recorded the theme song. -------------------- ***Signature removed by Staff due to size restrictions. From their facebook page.
QUOTE pricing isn't determined yet. The dub and sub versions will be separate releases. QUOTE Number of boxsets hasn't been determined yet. All 54 episodes for the sub version, and 52 episodes for the dub Looks like there are going to be separate releases for the Subtitled version and the dubbed version. But, more importantly we're getting all 52 of the dub. That would include the 12 unaired episodes. |

Wikipedia says the two undubbed episodes were just clipshows, so no loss there.
And yeah, I didn't know episodes of the dub went unaired in the US, either. Wikipedia just says "due to censorship" with no elaboration as to what the offending material was. Huh. That'll be interesting. I'm sure Amazon will have it for a decent price; I'm definitely getting it. |

They'd pretty much have to be separate releases. With whatever footage was cut or editted between amongst the episodes for the dubbed version, it's highly unlikely both audio streams would sync up properly.

Yeah you'd need completely seperate video tracks to do it right. A lot of dubs from the time need the same treatment. It's why I had to get two sets of Sailor Moon DVDs. -------------------- |
