Mine arrived today, as it plainly obvious it has many custom parts, but here are the instructions:

Words fail me regarding the Lightning McBee. Thomas the Little Gestalt, you have been outdone!
Also, see this? "Kre-O, you have failed me for the last time" Seriously, Hasbro. Sit down and take notes on how to make TRANSFORMABLE Lego TFs. What, sacrificing the "building set" aspect in favor of Mega Bloks-style "it's a half-a-Camaro piece!" trash for the sake of achieving a transformation on par with a Legend? Yeah, that doesn't sound like exactly the opposite of what Hasbro is trying to do at all. -------------------- |

A hell of a lot better than a pile of bricks that can be assembled as a robot with a pile of car parts nearby, or 2 hours later you can take it apart and reassemble it into a car with a pile of robot parts sitting nearby.
To be fair, that toy has more of a FAB level of articulation, not Legends. This post has been edited by mignash: Jan 14 2012, 09:28 PM |

If the entire purpose of the product is to be a construction toy, which is indeed the entire purpose of Kre-O, then I would have to favor the one that's better at being a construction toy. And the one that succeeds there is the one that you could potentially build into something other than a slightly underdetailed Fast Action Battler. -------------------- |

Well, we certainly have different expectations from out brick transformers. Some of us want to build a Transformer.

Well, we certainly have different expectations from out brickformers. It's more that you have a singular expectation which Kreos don't meet. Instead of accepting that there are other ways to do it and that Kreos are successful at one of them, you say they're just doing it "wrong" and/or "failed". In fairness, you're far from the only person to have that mindset... but IMO that just means a lot of people have narrow and unaccommodating ideas of the "right" way to do things. |

As the guy from this video said, Kre-o sets aren't really meant to be (thought of as) Transformers. They're really Lego(-ish) sets that can be built into TF characters. I think that's what Hasbro were aiming for. If you want proper TFs, that's what the main line is for.

We certainly have different opinions of what we want from a brick "Transformers", but I hardly think my version is "narrow". I've been building stuff from Lego for nearly 4 decades, I've built literally THOUSANDS of robots, space ships, cars and jets from Lego. I've even built my own Transformers that turned from jets into dinosaurs, or robots into insects. Even as a little child would I NEVER consider making a Lego car, then taking the bricks apart and building a car from the same bricks and saying "Hey, I built a Transformer!" I just build a car and a robot. That's all Kre-o is making. Cars, and jets, and trucks and robots. Not any Transformers. Many people want to see actual brick sets that when assembled TRANSFORM, and these Kazi sets are SUCCESSFUL in doing what Hasbro FAILED to do. See, how can you say that Hasbro FAILED at something, when you also say that they weren't actually trying to do said something? This post has been edited by Item42: Jan 15 2012, 09:09 AM |

Oh, I get it now... it's not that you will only entertain one concept and anything else is a failure, it's that you'll only entertain one concept and everything else is a failure. Sorry about that, I must have missed the subtle difference. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-primal.gif) Kreos were successful at what they set out to do, but what they set out to do was not what you wanted. That's okay, things like that happen all the time. But instead of recognizing it, you just argue that the failure is complete and obvious and everyone else doesn't get it. |

I agree. What Hasbro set out to do was not to make Transforming brick building sets. It would be nice if they did. Until then these are in the range of Action Masters, Robot Heroes, Mighty Muggs, Turnarounds, and the like. Nice little things some people collect, but hardly "Transformers" to many collectors.
When Hasbro make Transforming brick sets, we can compare them to the Kazi toys. Until then, Kazi has no competition in that field which they dominate. |

Perhaps this discussion should get moved to the other thread, since it's just cluttering up the place in here, eh?

In fairness, even if they DID transform I don't think they'd be "Transformers" to many collectors. It's not like people are waiting for a transformable brick Optimus to put in the Classics collection. No matter how you slice it, something like this is pretty much a novelty regardless. The sticking point is what the novelty can do. QUOTE When Hasbro make Transforming brick sets, we can compare them to the Kazi toys. Until then, Kazi has no competition in that field which they dominate. We can compare them plenty, but Kreos and these Kazi sets fulfill different desires and play patterns. All I've been trying to say is that both are valid. While one might be more desirable to some, the other is not not inherently wrong or a failure for it. |

I wonder if someone could make a psuedo-Kreo Rail Racer with sets like this:

Picked up this set at Dollar General this weekend. He screamed Erector to me.
