I feel that way a bit too. As it got a lot of attention for a year, and I welcome the return to the normal TF Universe this year. So does that mean SG is on its way out, or will it wind up in the background? I'm trying to decide if I want to go ahead and join the collector's club, especially since the figure next year is RiD Sideburn and it's not looking like I'll be able to get a vintage guy. But I was never keen on SG in the first place (has there been an issue in which someone didn't get killed? G2 burned me out on all that), and so with me losing a good chunk of my financial aid due to being a grad student money's gotten a lot tighter. That's making it all the harder to justify the $60 membership fee. No one died in Generation 2 Redeux and there may or may not have been deaths in Wings of Honor, as those events are left kinda vague. I don't think we've killed anyone off in any of the SG Text stories either. -Trent -------------------- |

As far as SG goes, just about every time I read a summary of the comics it seems like someone or other is getting slagged. -------------------- Lexicon: still up and running!

As far as SG goes, just about every time I read a summary of the comics it seems like someone or other is getting slagged. In Reunification a few people got bumped off, but the text stories are actually the bulk of the SG storyline and are pretty light-hearted on the whole. I think I'd try actually reading the stories before making too many assumptions. Same for people who think that two comic issues + 5 short stories over the course of a year somehow equals overplayed. I mean, yeah, SG got a lot of attention for a year... because in the past few years the TFCC has ALWAYS focused on the same universe in its fiction for a year. So... yeah. Now TransTech, on the other hand... "I, Lowtech" racked up a pretty good body count. But, SG is more or less over AFAIK, in that there's only one prose story left in the works for the storyline. Don't think SG is overplayed myself, just mostly uninteresting. On the whole I'd much rather read about the "real" TF universe, than this "opposite" tangent.

One might complain about them being whimsical/cheesy depending on your tastes for such things, but I'm not sure I'd go with "uninteresting". |

I'm not a fan of the Universe Ravage figure. I'm glad he's in 3-D compared to the original, but the head is pretty bad. The new Device Label Ravage is much nicer when mine isn't breaking into a million pieces. Too bad that we'll never get a SG Ravage/Glit out of that mold.

I'm brand new to the SG stuff (after having resisted it mightily for over a year), so I'm a ways off from being sick of any of it just yet.
I'm actually kinda hoping they return to that theme for the next Botcon, like the teaser image makes me suspect. This post has been edited by Sean Whitmore: Aug 3 2010, 09:58 PM -------------------- This week at Comic Critics!: Like a Brit out of Hell

Stupid fun! Always ruining my bad time! Who said I don't like fun things? 2010's boxset is my second favorite that FP has done yet, because it's so damn fun. SG Ravage though, to me, is a one line joke/meme that I keep seeing over and over and over. It seems easy enough to avoid, to the point that at least two of us here have done completely so by accident. Is the saturation really that bad? I'm sure it just depends on what type of stuff you frequent. We got the toy from BotCon, I read Shortpacked so I saw him for a week there of course, and a few other random times in the past, then I got BotCon's twitter feed that had SG Ravage's profile card on it one day, then the strip. One of those "perfect storm" of white kittehs I guess you could say =P -------------------- |

Now TransTech, on the other hand... "I, Lowtech" racked up a pretty good body count. Well, to be fair, it was a (mass) murder story, probably the darkest thing I've written, TF-wise, though still lighter than the original outline. -Trent -------------------- |

"I, Lowtech" is still my favorite story from you guys. Was just saying that if he was looking to avoid stories with lots of people getting offed, SG wasn't exactly the universe to worry about. And I'm now intrigued by the thought that the original outline was actually darker than the end result. Cause, damn. |

...have you actually read the stories/characterizations? One might complain about them being whimsical/cheesy depending on your tastes for such things, but I'm not sure I'd go with "uninteresting". If the dividing line between people who like and dislike SG is whether or not they've read it, the dividing line for SG Ravage seems to be pretty much whether or not you enjoy lolcats, or at least enjoy hating them. I kind of find that funny, because nothing about him is actually lolcat in origin, really - he's just the physical manifestation of Twitter.... |

I'm sure there's people who have read it that don't like it. It's just that for the most part, the people I see saying it's tired or uninspired are either folks that I don't recall being TFCC members, or (on the TFCC boards mostly) people who say they haven't read the prose. *shrug* (So... not that I can blame them I suppose, as on the surface the idea sounds kind of tired. But I found the way SG was done to be surprisingly creative... or at least surprisingly whimsical. And it hasn't had all that much more fiction than TransTech had.) |

From what I've read about SG, it sounds a lot like G1 but well written and, well, in reverse.
