I honestly don't understand how these guys can up with such amazing ideas and at the same time, approve borderline retarded ideas like a clear head Shuddup, that's an awesome idea. -------------------- |

Nova Prime from the dead universe. I'd buy it. A dead universe theme would be pretty awesome. Feels like we have enough characters from that universe that lack proper toy representation. -------------------- |

That's why everyone bought Wreck-Gar and nobody paid the Premium for e-Hobby Scrapheap right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-arcee.gif) Or hell, why buy the boxset at all when you can purchase Jazz, Thunderwing, Bludgeon, RTS Optimus, Tracks, and Ironhide. That's just hyperbolic nonsense and you know it. Total nonsense and one of the dumber things I've seen in this thread. FP isn't going to produce something that looks damn near like stuff that's already on the shelf. Hell, I doubt Hasbro would let them produce a three pack of Junkions, all of which will end up having the exact same colors BTW. It makes no sense to produce over priced off color versions of figures that are pretty easy to get instead of doing what Botcon does and give them a whole new color scheme. I'm not really sold on the SG idea (unless I can use it to make Sideways), but what you're saying makes sense to me, for what it's worth. If they're limited on doing things that Hasbro has plans for, then they're REALLY going to be limited on things that are basically already available, not factoring in crazy Junkion troop builder fans and their minutia. I think the clear head is awesome, a great concept, well done there!
The rest of the figure doesn't really gel for me though I'm afraid. It might just be the combination of the bright reds and blues, though I do like the diaclone Magnus that it is based off. Perhaps this is just my bias to the movie-eque molds, I wasn't a huge fan of the RTS laser Prime mold as it is, too scrawny and monster-y. Maybe if the idea is that he's some sort of evil walking dead Ultra Magnus (which given he has a ghost head is what I'm guessing might be the case) he could have been darker tones and a bit 'grungier' though I'm sure that would have blown the budget. Given that he's got an evil monster face though, he was never going to be a stand-in for Diaclone Magnus anyway so some more changes to make it distinct wouldn't have hurt. It's good to see Botcon being experimental though, that's exactly what I like to see in convention figures! This post has been edited by Blueshift: Jan 13 2012, 03:43 PM -------------------- |

Like I said on FB, that head will look amazing with light behind it.
Nova Prime from the dead universe. I'd buy it. You have my sword. And you have my bow. And my money. Or y'know Hasbro, anyone who makes it really. -------------------- |

Yeah I had just thought of that, normal Junkions wouldn't really be an option as Hasbro has produced two of their own (as well as TakaraTomy). So they're probably kind of off limits or been there done that. Despite people wanting more.
Picturing the molds in Insecticon colors though they could look really great. Especially if they have clear yellow windows & eyes. Randy -------------------- ![]() |

The Sideways angle makes it make sense with Treadshot. If that was their actual intention, it is pretty danged clever. What are there always lots of? Insecticons, check. Junkions, check. Unicron spawn, check. Unicron never made a bunch of Sidewayses like he did Scourges, but they do both work for the same guy. And danged lucky that Sideways and Insecticons are made of purple and yellow.
Still not sure I want to hold any of them in my hands, though. |

Can somebody please answer a question for me? Does the fact that SG Ultra Magnus has the alternate head depicted in the instructions, mean there won't be a mass-release version with this head sculpt? I'm asking because I have yet to get the original RTS version. I was hoping the redeco might be RID Scourge or MotorMaster/Menasor.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif) Yes it was fairly hyperbolic but the main point stands. People were paying $100+ largely for Screapheap. That's more then what a troop builder set of three usually runs. People like Junkions in Junkion-esque colors. Yes, a three pack painted exactly the same as Wreck-Gar would be fairly stupid so change the decos but keep the same design ethic. Not saying the SG ones won't look cool (or that I won't buy them) but I'd like some more Classic Junkions at some point and Botcon seems the best avenue. I'm pretty sure a Botcon remold has never been made for retail release, but at the same time this deal of having two heads on every mold to begin with is pretty new. If this head wasn't made with Botcon in mind, I'd think it means Hasbro made it with something else in mind and just let them use it. They'll probably still do what they had in mind.
But then again, they may have talked to Botcon early and had Botcon in mind. Edit - Really if they don't make Scourge out of RTS G2 Prime, they're bums. But they don't have to use the alternate head for that. (Maketoys will do it for them) This post has been edited by Axaday: Jan 13 2012, 03:54 PM |

And the clear parts are giving me this weird vibe, like Magnus is a "ghost in armor" or something. He has a very visible matrix...maybe he's like a "Matrix Spirit" or something of that sort. That would be kinda cool and explain the clear plastic use. The flow of clear parts from the chest up through the head just gives me this "Holocaust from X-Men" kinda feeling, if that makes sense. That's what I figured the situation was. -------------------- |

How many people have actually gone out of their way to buy Scrapheap? It's not some overwhelming majority going out and buying the thing. You may be one of the fans that would but not everyone is of that mindset. Bottom line is that even if Hasbro approved a three pack of toys with identical paint schemes it's still a gamble for FP since, being in Junkion colors, they'd be VERY similar to what's currently available in stores. Why the hell would FP do something that risky? Junkheaps are plentiful these days. As are cheap paints. Have at it. I'll enjoy the prospect of something different to play with. -------------------- |

The three would be identically painted. All three would look the same. While a bit different from what's on shelves they'd still be extremely similar if they kept them in Junkon colors. I don't see where the confusion comes in. It would be too similar. As in not different enough to merit FP doing it in the first place. -------------------- |

I don't think its a stretch to say most people would want a group of Junkions that actually look like Junkions.

I think FP should just return to 2007 practices. Put the most desired characters from the molds available. Focus on making a great set with great characters that people will want. Better to do toys that are fill holes in collections that Hasbro won't do than to attempt to be new and original but ultimately mostly undesirable and doesn't fill holes in people's collections.
If FP wants to use the Perceptor mold for example they should do Magnificus. Not some new color scheme for an unrelated character. Hasbro isn't likely to do Magnificus. If it annoys some fans who want the toys but won't get them at Botcon prices then thats a good set. People will be annoyed still but people are currently annoyed at this years set anyway. If I were FP, I know which reason I'd rather have people annoyed at me for. |
