Yeah, that's kind of what I like. Whirl is a jerk, sure, but he's got his reasons.

QUOTE(Optimus Primary @ Jun 27 2012, 07:46 AM) *
It's one thing to repair an insane mass murder and get him functional, but they could have at LEAST given him a smaller body that he couldn't use to go on a rampage with again, let alone be potentially capable of escaping.

I agree, but even more than that, in a metatextual way, I just really really really don't want to see Springer's choice lead to more tragedies. I remember as a kid never understanding why, say, He-Man would save Skeletor's life because "every life is worth saving," and then Skeletor would prove him wrong by trying to kill him again and again as the episodes continued. Say what you will about Impactor, but Squadron X is never going to have another victim. If Overlord gets free, how many more lives can he take before the moral scales tip away from Springer's choice?

Damn, I know the odds we're slim, but I really did want that shared mold for him and Scrounge.

Heh, speaking of, when Max ripped his mic off, I thought, "My special thumb! There is no other like it!"

Also, I chuckled a bit at Whirl's "whatshisface over there. Thumbless."

QUOTE
My second biggest sad thought is "Poor Swerve." I doubt he takes it well.

Likewise.

QUOTE
Rodimus is trying, but he's not got the best luck of any leader ever, has he. This can't have earned him any points with the crew.

This was a massively bad command decision, and I'll be disappointed if there aren't any repercussions. The "nice speech" line left me cold. The irony is that it was paired with a quite GOOD decision - having Rewind project a G9 hologram. If only Roddy could've quit while he was ahead.

I just wonder if it is ever gonna be revealed why and how Whirl is still alive after all these millions of years (correct me if it was revealed here) considering what he did to Megatron and how he personally started him down the path to Con leader....

I'm honestly surprised anyone manages to stay alive over millions of years of war, but that's just one in a long list of absurdities inherent in the concept of such a ridiculously long timeframe.

QUOTE(Dinogrrl @ Jun 28 2012, 05:07 PM) *
Whirl - I'm starting to 'like' this guy, although like is in quotation marks for a reason. The backstory was awesome and ads a lot of depth to him.

It struck me as a little... tidy, though, for a guy who talks to corpses in his spare time. I'm not sure I trust him to factually narrate his own life.

Other thoughts: Any guesses on "what Aequitas was built to hide"? Overlord doesn't have the firmest grasp on reality either, but I doubt Roberts would've dropped that without intending some followup.

Trailbreaker's "forcefield malfunction" was funny and neat. I love casual, unorthodox uses of TF powers. It reminded me a little of when Animated Bulkhead transformed his back-kibble into a chair.

I really dig how Roche draws Rewind - so evocative of the toy. It's good to pause and remember how bad we had it in the DW days, when every TF was drawn like an overstuffed mattress. In a lot of ways, both in art and writing, we're in a special time. I'm doing my best to enjoy it while it lasts.

It occurs to me, if my Prowl/Chromedome/Overlord theory is correct, perhaps Prowl's need to have Overlord's memories purged or altered is so great that he felt the need to keep Overlord close enough to Chromedome that CD could have the chance to come to the same conclusion if a specific set of circumstances were to arise. Prowl just didn't anticipate the Nails having a spark eater on board to draw unwarranted attention to the holding cell. Wheelie and co. are aware of the prisoner they are tasked with guarding. Someone (besides Red Alert) must know about OL on the Lost Light too.

Trailbreaker cracked me up in this. "Sooo, Fort Max, my man! You have got guns in your legs! How's that working out for you?" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) And man, Max is HUGE. I did not notice before MTMTE, but he is around the size of Magnus or Overlord himself.
