I'd like to. Remains to be seen if I get my wish, however.

If I can, yes.

Are you at liberty to give us any details? Maybe a rundown of the table of contents or something?

well the interactive media is what surprised and impressed me the most really. i wasnt expecting a page of tech spec repros, a small Optimus Prime animation cel, etc [as seen in the pics above]

but there ARE a few other neat things in there. I havent given it a thorough read-through yet but it looks pretty comprehensive!

as far as a little rundown of the book? i'll have to see!

its a really neat book though! its interesting to see something that focuses more on the TF brand overall and not just strictly the "mythos" like the past Ultimate Guide book and others like that

I'm definately gonna get it.

I still wish they'd included a repo of the S.T.A.R.S. base though. Seems the perfect chance.

Looking at the Amazon description..... did they shorten the book by about 100 pages, or am I misremembering the old announcements?

I'm definitely getting it regardless. Very interesting to hear that the book is more about the brand than the mythos.... I'm not sure how exactly they could pull that off. I mean, they have to talk about the story elements, prehistory, and characters in SOME level, don't they?

I'm thinking the difference is that the previous encyclopedia was a reference that treated the Transformers as if they were real, whereas this book talks about the brand, including the characters, toys, cartoons, etc.

yup! its Abrams. just checked

on the inside cover it says "Transformers Vault: The complete Transformers Universe showcasing rare collectibles and memorabilia"

and it DOES touch on the mytho's but its not entirely centered around it like the other books are. [the mythos are part of what makes the brand afterall]

but that should help give you an idea (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif)

its a REALLY cool book though!
nice and big and hardcover [and the "case" it comes in is pretty hefty too!]
a very quality book!

Id've bought it if i wouldnt've gotten comps (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-waspy.gif)

It sounds like this is a really good book, and I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Josh, by any chance, was there much (or any) material on Beast Wars or Beast Machines? Or was it mostly focused on G1 and the movies?

I've had this pre-ordered since Dec.!!! I'm excited. I think this is the one Amazon said would ship a week earlier than expected. I have much pre-ordered so I'm hoping this is the one!
