Wow. I mean wow. What an experience. This movie was damn near perfect. Every aspect of it was thoroughly nailed, from the characters, to the setting, special effects, the plot and pacing. Just wow.

I was actually hoping Natalie Portman would be in this, but I imagine the thing is already pretty star-laden, as is. And apparently the older guy she was working with in Thor is in The Avengers, so I expected they'd come up with some reason or other. She'll be in Thor 2, though, so they'll certainly get their on-screen reunion, eventually. Stellan Skarsgard. Is he actually in it? Yes he is. Quite a bit actually. -------------------- ![]() |

LOVED it! It was kinda slow in the beginning but once it got started... HOOO BOY! Quick question for anyone that could hear over the cheers... HIGHLIGHT to view: After Hulk BEATS THE BLOODY EVERYTHING out of Loki what does he say after walking away? HIGHLIGHT to view: Puny god. now that more people have seen it maybe people can confirm this for me HIGHLIGHT to view: I can't remember anyone yelling out AVENGERS ASSEMBLE! is my memory just jive or did no one say it? As far as I know, no one said it. Film was probably better for that omission, honestly. This post has been edited by Matthias Phage: May 4 2012, 02:38 AM |

Couple of notes:
HIGHLIGHT to view: Though it wasn't outright said it seemed the staff was controlling Banner and that's why he lost control on the Helicarrier. Also, some dialogue may have been drowned out but did they address the staff not working on Stark? I assume it's because of the speculation over the origins of the ARC reactor and I hope it's not because he "no longer has a heart" or something corny like that. -------------------- |

Also of note:
This movie has made up for EVERY superhero flick that didn't have enough action or didn't have the right kind of action for it's hero. This movie will never stop making money. This movie makes DC look like idiots. -------------------- |

No, nothing addressed that specifically. HIGHLIGHT to view: I thought it was fairly obvious that it was just because Loki, not realising what Stark has going on under there, was simply being unfortunate enough to poke him directly in the arc reactor, instead of the flesh, so the energy wasn't transmitting. -------------------- |

Avengers has just taken the spot for 'My Favorite Film Ever Made.'
While I like to joke about the TF movies being up there, in truth, I only really watch em for the pretty CG robots and big fighty stuffs (which Michael Bay can do like no other). My favorite films are a more diverse lot, include the three original Star Wars films, the Indiana Jones trilogy, The Dark Knight, The Lord of the Rings, Casablanca, a smattering of Disney Films and Musicals, and few other things. Avengers catapulted itself to the top of the list, blowing straight through all the other things to a jaw-dropping I-crapped-my-pants-80-times incredifest and I don't even know what I'm saying it blew my mind so big. It was, by far and away, the best Super Hero film ever made. (Dark Knight could debatably be called a better film, but it could never compare as a Super Hero film). It had all the elements to make it a perfect film - I laughed (gut wrenchingly quite a few times), I cried (a certain character death really hurt), I cheered, I gripped my seat in awe and I left exhilerated, thrilled and amazed. No movie deserves to be that good. But it damn well friggen was. I cannot wait to see this again. If you hold me to gun point and make me say something critical, it would be that the films a litttttle slow after Loki's capture, and Hawkeye is a littttle underused. But those are stretching. This film was friggen perfect. -------------------- |

Seeing this tonight at an 11pm show, IMAX 3-D, reserved seat theatre. Can't wait. I anticipate seeing it 2 or 3 more times after tonight, though, while it's still in theatres.
The only down side is that I was hoping to make a date of it but it turns out I'll be on my own, as the closet thing I've got to a girlfriend at the moment (only been out a couple times so far) isn't available. But at least I'll be able to go get food only a few minutes before it starts without having to worry about my seat, thanks to the reserved seating. HIGHLIGHT to view: Though it wasn't outright said it seemed the staff was controlling Banner and that's why he lost control on the Helicarrier. HIGHLIGHT to view: I think we were meant to take away that the staff was subconsciously influencing everybody present, hence them all starting to quarrel and fight with each other, some nearly coming to blows. Also hence the camera going all upside-down-y. -------------------- |

Partway through the conversation, Stark and Cap did seem to blink a bit like they were coming out of something.

Going to the midnight showing tonight once I get out of work. So freaking stoked right now!!! Crossgates? Rotterdam? I'll be at the Crossgates IMAX. I went to Rotterdam although I should've gone to Crossgates. When it comes down to it though Rotterdam is 3 minutes from me so that's why I went there. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) As for the movie itself, I just can't get over how good it was! Hulk just stole the show and all the doubts I had of Ruffalo playing Banner were thankfully put to rest. -------------------- ![]() |

HEY GUYS!!!
http://www.allspark.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86678 I started a new thread for spoiler laden conversation. Not only can we talk about it without the spoiler tags but digging through huge old threads is never fun. This one can stay open for those that haven't seen it. -------------------- |

It was a cool superhero movie.
Best one ever? Far from it in my opinion. Man were Cap, Widow, and Hawkeye useless in the end of this movie. HIGHLIGHT to view: I also don't buy the 'Hulk being controlled by Loki' thing. Simply because Hulk is immune to mind control. I still like X-2 more as a team movie. Oh, and that final P.S. was funny as hell! Its very close for me between X2 and Avengers too, I think avengers has to take it though, its was practically flawless as a superhero movie.

X-2 doesn't hold up entirely after all these years. Far better than the first but still not close to perfect. Avengers was a far better team movie in that we really saw them fight as a team.
But I'm also tired of X-Men so... -------------------- |
