Black isn't going anywhere as she's an easy woman on the team. Hawkeye is far more important to Avengers mythos than some really understand.

Getting back to this movie, it really was pretty damn smart to brainwash Hawkeye for most of the movie. It allowed him to show off without being in the shadow of the other heroes, and it allowed the narrative to cut from the good guy camp to the bad guy's machinations without technically taking all the Avengers off the screen.

And a likely nod to the fact that he started out as a villain in comics.

Cutting these characters loose because they aren't super powered gods is a frustrating idea. Their characters DO matter. Also, I'd just like to point out that Avengers DID become an insert special guest star series before Bendis disassembled them. I mean, Jack of Hearts? With Whedon at the helm and left unmolested by studios, I think we could get a great deal of past Avengers in one movie without it being a jive storm. -------------------- |

Hawkeye didn't have jack crap to do with the Avengers when I was reading it. I never liked that guy. Why? He's a great cockey guy without actually being a douche. He's got GREAT leadership skills when he's allowed to shine and he's skilled as all hell especially since he had special training from Cap when brought on as part of the second line up of Avengers. Hawkeye is a great character with crap loads of history. Also, which Avengers were you reading? For some reason I think he may have been leading the Thunderbolts when you were reading it. -------------------- |

Also, which Avengers were you reading? For some reason I think he may have been leading the Thunderbolts when you were reading it. I hope it was that period, because the other two recent eras without Hawkeye (pre-The Crossing and post-Disassembled) were dire times for Avengers comics indeed. Anyone who wants to learn how to quickly love Hawkeye need only read Kurt Busiek stories, including the relaunched Avengers series from 1999 and, as Cheets mentioned, Thunderbolts from issue #20 on. That's what did it for me. -------------------- This week at Comic Critics!: Like a Brit out of Hell

Well for one, I've always though archery based super heroes were stupid. And for two, I don't remember when, it was the early 300s. I really didn't have that many Avengers comics but none of them have Hawkeye in them.

Hawkeye isn't as archery doofy as Green Arrow, if that makes sense. His trick arrows make sense, like in the movie, and he's not entirely dependent on that skill set, it's more that it's his favorite.. Plus the character himself really shines. I'd give him another shot if I were you.

On the subject of adding cast members... I think a future movie could easily do without Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nick Fury, Hulk or and any given one of the Cap/Thor/Iron Man trinity. Ctainly a couple could get by with Pepper Pots style cameos. It's not really an avengers movie at this point, it's an "insert hero here with special guest star" movie. Not true at all. The Avengers have had SO many lineups and so many key important members in their existance there is certainly cause and need to sound them more deeply. And their presence is no less core to an Avengers film then those used thus far. -ZacWilliam, certainly I'm in no hurry to upset the cart, but still major and important Averngers are almost certainly likely to, and welcome, to and necessary to, come in if the franchise continues, and certainly an Avengers film, as the Avengers comic before it would easily weather the changing of some guards, if those captaining the ship stear it as true as they did this time. -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

I've heard a rumor/fan speculation that Agent Coulson is/will become Vision.
I don't really have a problem with this. -------------------- ![]() |

Lots and lots of options: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Avengers_members -ZacWilliam, even if you cull it to say half the members staying long enough to be considered really CORE Avenger... Even a third or fourth... thats a lot of "major" Avengers on the potential list. -------------------- Ever wonder about the speed of Turbofoxes?

I've heard a rumor/fan speculation that Agent Coulson is/will become Vision. I don't really have a problem with this. As weirdly robotic Coulson could be at times, ya I could see Tony working something up. Though hopefully they would put in Pym to build him. -------------------- |

Loved every minute of it.
If these characters aren't working out for people individually at the movies then team ups might and by that I mean new introductions in the next movies like Gray Hulk and She Hulk in the next hulk movie, giant man and Wasp in Iron Man 3, Carol Danvers in Captain America 2 and so on.
