Good toy but

1) MUCH less cool than Jhiaxus from that mold would have been.

2) Feel a little like it needs more paint.

3) They REALLY should have saved a head remold.

-ZacWilliam, and I repeat, much less cool than making that toy Jhiaxus.

Meh. Only one figure in the box set that I like - Strika - and even at that, I'd still debate buying it at regular retail price.

If Obsidian had been in toon colors, I'd put the set above 2009, but as-is, it feels just as bad. Maybe, like the 2009 set, the add-ons will be better.

I think this set is all-around worse than the 2009 set. I enjoyed the Elite Guard theme, and most of the toys looked good. It wasn't particularly EXCITING, but aside from a few misses (Thunderclash's symbol) it was a well done set.

This is...not good. Hoist looks great but I really dislike his Electro head. Skywarp is probably the best, but his lack of G2 symbol bothers me. Strika looks ok but I don't really like that mold for her. Obsidian is in the wrong colors, and I don't like that mold for him. Megaplex is...yeah.

I'm not somebody who bashes on FP - I generally like what they do, but I also not back of on being a critic when things aren't very good. I think this is probably the worst set they've done. Some good ideas with mostly poor execution, and some really terrible ideas. Not a fan, which bums me out because I LOVE Machine Wars and was really looking forward to a MW theme.

The mold looks pretty nice in those colors, but... that head! THAT HEAD!! I will forever hate Obsidian and Strika for robbing Megaplex of the chance to have an actual Megatron-esque head sculpt!

It's too bad they couldn't have shoved the GDO Megatron head on this mold some how.

As it is, I'm impressed they were able to use Dreadwing. It's not often they're allowed to use something as new as that figure.

This set is about as disappointing as I thought it would be, given this year's theme.

The Prime Dreadwing mold became available VERY late in planning. All other head molds were done. We decided that with the right deco and characterization he still worked as Megaplex. Worked well actually once we put him up against all the other toys.

As always, its all about context. Once they all are displayed, the Decepticons side by side, they look pretty sharp...

Megaplex looks fine just not what I wanted as far as a CHUG Megaplex. However, I'm glad they didn't reveal a Jhiaxus from this mold as I'd so prefer Jhiaxus from RotF Mindwipe. Maybe in next years subscription service. Overcharge only works from the Blitzwing mold IMO and should be a troopbuilders set as my IT Quintessons need some soldiers. So as of now my only serious want is Strika and that might change as I really wanted Obsidian AND Strika. Looking foward to what the add ons will be now.

Sorry, Pete. I respect the attempt but that head is just too "Prime" to work effectively in this set, and Megaplex's whole thing is that he looks just like Megatron. I think you should have gone a different direction.

I would have liked it had the sword been chrome like reissue Megaplex.

Fun Pub seems not to use chrome (outside of Deathsaurus), even when it makes sense (like on Rapido's gun).

Granted the sword might not even be able to be chromed...

No gun is shown. I wonder which one he'll have, Dreadwing's, Skyquake's or Arms Micron Dreadwing's. I'd almost want AM DW's because his doesn't need to be modified to be decent.

I understand some people don't like it, but this is NOT a Machine Wars Redux. This is taking the concept and expanding it. And just like many other instances within Transformers, the file cards are not going to 100% reflect the character/story. Though many of the aspects FROM then file cards will still be a part of the overall story.

Not to mention, worst set, combined with the highest ever outrageous price of $365. That money buys you some awesome things: Takara MP cars, Genesis X, probably FP Menasor will come in at that price or less, the FP headmasters...just so many better uses for the money.

Seriously FP, the only reason I'm attending is for my friends and the dealer room. And the dealer room prices are steadily gouging their way to heaven too, to where some dealers will start dropping out. The constant increased greed of FP, the move away from being for fans by fans, and this lackluster execution are just miserable.

Hmmm. Its a good mold. If this were a Prime-themed set, it would be alright.

So far only Strika and Obsidian are the winners (even then Obsidian's colors knock him down a bit).

Though it makes me wonder if the club will ever do a Prime-universe set.

Definitely getting this set now. I've got deep affection for any character representation made of my original handle (Megaplex). To top it off, I've got a major soft spot for the random mythos surrounding Obsidian and Strika. Kinda meh about the rest though.

Well I'm happy with my Beast Machines guys. Machine Wars was always a dud to me so I can't be disappointed when it's barely a blip on my radar.

Although the FoC Soundwave would look good in Machine Wars colors...

I figure so, and I'll be glad not to have a 3rd DW/SQ mold in that collection.

I totally understand that, and I'm sure that the story you're telling will be fun - but it's not the story I wanted for Machine Wars. That's just one voice, though.

On the toys, using a Prime head sculpt here is enough to turn me to actively disliking this toy. I know you said it was late in planning and the heads were done already, but in that case I think you should have used another toy/character and saved Megaplex for a club toy later.

I want to make it clear I'm not being antagonistic to be a jerk as a lot of people who criticize you do. You do a lot of great stuff. I just think this is a big strike.

I don't see how this means Jhiaxus won't be done in this mold. In fact, I'd say it makes using him even more likely.

I like this better than 2009, 2008, 2010, 2005, and perhaps 2012's sets. These 5 look more solid overall to me than those previous sets. While some of those had some exceptional figures (SG Optimus, Clench) to me they are overall weaker.

I'm hoping Megaplex here has a premium silver deco, that would definitely make things more worth it.
