So we have Duobots now.

Well, we did, anyway. Seems like we just have one now.

Wow. Definitely wasn't expecting Milne's pencils to look this nice.

Anyone else think the Duobots were the two Prowl was talking to? Also nice to see more of Brainstorm. He's one of my favorites from the old Headmasters.

Absolutely loving the art in this. I've only really read Chaos Theory by Milne, which I liked. This is soooo good!

I only read the first two pages because I want to read it all in one sitting, but Milne's art looks really good. Full of life. Readable. I'm going to love him on this book.

I didn't actually read it, just looked at the art. And... wow. Alex Milne has massively improved as an artist. I take my hat off to you, Alex Milne, you've grown as an artist -- you've grown past almost all my old criticisms of your art. I'm damned impressed.

I guess the IDW editorial mandate is now to try to maintain a consistent art style rather than letting each artist do whatever?

What's with the hunter dudes and their "Nineteen eighty-four"? Skids was a 1985 release! Maybe that's why they wanna kill him? They're aggressively into the first year and only the first year. I guess everyone except Ratchet should be worried then...

Of course maybe they're just George Orwell fans. Or heavily into the Eurythmics?

I like the Diagnostic Drone in the Medibay, love it when those guys pop up.

Bit worried about Cyclonus, but it doesn't seem like there's been any fatality's from them being sucked out.

Skids being cool is weird, but I like the Doctor Who vibe I'm getting from the whole scene.

Wow.
Can we keep Roberts on writing duties? Like, forever? Roche's stuff looked fantastic, and Milne is indeed brangin' it. Beautiful stuff.

I don't think its a mandate, but even if it is, it doesn't matter. Conscious decision or not, I'd like to think Milne has just found the perfect balance for his stuff, it looks pretty hugging awesome.

Okay, I'll admit, Milne's doing a good job. I don't think he's actually trying to ape Nick to any great degree, I think the colouring is just making it look that way - I've never seen his work coloured with such light, pastel shades (this palette being one of my favourite things about the art on the first issue) - and that's carrying it a fair bit, but he's honest-to-god trying, and as with all of his work for the last year, each new piece he produces continues to be the best of his career.

Bleeding fantastic, Milne continues to step up and up and very soon over. And of course, Roberts continues to prove that IDW should have hired him long, long ago.

Aces, Milne. If he can maintain this, he'll move into top tier (finally) for me. And I thought Chaos Theory was a quantum leap.

And dammit, now I want classics Skids. Still love his alternator, though.

Really? I would like to point you in the direction of the Marvel comics where Skids plays a pretty major role starting in issue #20.

He had a major role starting in #20, but his personality being a huge part of it ended in that issue. Afterwards he might as well be any other robot.

Even so, it's going to take a lot of fiction to usurp that version of Skids in my brain. That Skids, even if just for one issue, was very potent.

Why is it that now when I need to save my money, the comics get good again. I am pleasantly surprised that Hot Rod and his crew are actually finding the missing bots alive apparently, despite their likely poor condition.

Brainstorm, Chromedome and their Headmasters buddies are some of my favorite characters, as they are some of the few G1 toys I still had in good condition before I reentered the fandom. Always good to see them get the spotlight.

I am also enjoying Rung, who is finally getting to know all his patients for the first time. Of course, now I want an actual Rung toy...enter a Prime style Animated Prowl with repaint/retool as Rung.

P.S. Skids rocks.

Love it, love it, love everything about it.

The writing is absolutely fantastic and Milne continues to bring a massive A-game to the art.
