QUOTE(Code of Walky @ Mar 3 2012, 09:04 AM) *
Considering the "joke votes" we've gotten these past two years, I don't think the fandom is mature enough to have a say in the Real People vote.

I'd honestly think that the fandom would try to vote in a fan (like say someone who runs a popular site or is infamous among the fandom itself) rather than someone who has had a positive influence on the brand.

Worse yet, people may try to vote in someone like Pat Lee just to make a mockery of the whole thing.

Yay, Sky-Byte! A pity it's not enough to actually get him into the final nominees, but oh well. Maybe next year.

Depends, really. Hasbro/the PR company (not sure which exactly) uses a certain algorithm to determine who gets into the final five, based on the relative positions of each character at each site. How many other sites have posted their winners? I know it was supposed to be a smaller field this year...

All of the site I know of have posted their winners, but Sky-Byte only appeared on the top five for the Wiki and AllSpark. The results for the other participating sites I know of:

Much as I love Bwegatron, he's gotten enough subsequent print appearances and reissued toys that I'd say he'll get in fairly soon anyway. Whereas RID more urgently needs a public - and corporate - reaffirmation.

It'd probably be more meaningful to some if more people who contributed to the show made the Hall of Fame, even if it just amounts to an extra nice pat on the back for a job well done, it is still nice to feel appreciated. I would almost like to vote on what real live people should be up for nomination.

I really want Furman to get in, he's one of the few writers with an association with the brand that goes almost to the beginning who's still doing TF stuff now. Plus, it's a nice little publicity boost for ReGeneration One

Furman is almost certainly a lock.

I mean, it made sense the first year that it was people who'd been with the brand during its very beginnings and formed much of what we know today (and, well, a figurehead) who were inducted. The movie guys make complete sense as well to follow up with the next, since they are very much largely responsible for TF's modern success level (and, of course, a movie year).

I'm sure Furman will be in soon enough, if not this year.

Hmm. Let's speculate. Obvious locks for real people:
Frank Welker
Simon Furman
If he wasn't so out there Floro Dery

And less a complete lock, but still fairly likely eventually IMO
Wildman
Senior
Bob and Larry
Arron Archer
Garry Chalk
David Kaye
Scott I-voice-everyone

-ZacWilliam, probably missing a bunch of the obvious, and knows he's likely missing many "important but obscures"...

Agree with all of the above. I might also suggest Marty Isenburg, Derrick J. Wyatt, and Hirofumi Ichikawa (btw, what happened to him? The wiki doesn't have anything listed for him after Cybertron). I think Jim Sorenson, Bill Forster, and the Hartmans have also done enough work for the brand to earn the nod.

I really doubt a second guy named "Megatron" is going to be put into the Hall of Fame automatically by Hasbro. It's definitely one of those "the fans have to do it" things.

Yes, and that can happen anytime.

This is a meaningful year to RID. Or rather, the very tail end of one to the point where it won't be as relevant next time.

Too bad RID isn't very meaningful to Transformers.

If a character's relevancy depends on what year it is, then I don't think that's a worthy character. Either the character's important or it's not. I don't think we should be voting for anniversaries.

I think TFormers needs to trim their list down to all the ones who tied for third at least there. Even by then they still have 7 characters instead of five. And since it's a shoe in that BW Megs is on the list and Blackarachnia isn't making the cut I'm throwing in on his vote. After all it is the 16th anniversary of Beast Wars (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-fire.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon-blitz.gif)

Yeah, I thought it was pretty questionable that they did that. And you know Hasbro will probably just grab the first five names anyway.

I don't think most people who voted for Sky-Byte even considered the significance of the year (it's not like Hasbro has done anything to make us aware of it after all).

Sky-Byte did better this year than last (was he in any site's top five last year?), so even if he doesn't get into the final five this year, that's just something to aim for next year.

Plus any character who isn't BW Megatron is going to have a hard time winning the final poll this year anyway.

And next year, it will be any character vs new BW character in line, and the year after that, and the year after that..

To be fair BW had a small cast reletively speaking. Another 2 decades and the problem solves itself.
