I'm looking to meet other TF fans in Calgary, AB for social networking and general good times - I'd love to meet other fans in the city to talk, trade toys with, discuss the fandom and generally have fun with.
Are there any other fans in the area? For reference, I'm 25, and mostly into G1 and G2 stuff (I began with ATT back in the 90s), but I am flexible. If anyone else is out there and keen to connect, e-mail me! I am at "joe.bardsley@gmail.com". Cheers, j.

Has anyone else seen this? I am a big film score fan, actually, and was searching for copies of James Horner's Star Trek II and Star Trek III scores, and the guy I purchased them from also had this available.
I am not a fan of the movie or of its score in general, so I've passed it up, but this still is a relatively significant find. Can anyone else comment? Does it seem legit to you? For my own sake, I hope so, but I am also really curious as to where this came from. Thanks! Joseph

Because I'm tired of feeling like practically the only one here, and I'd love to meet some. I know of a couple of cool fans in the area, and I'd love to get some kind of regular meetup - or even just coffee or lunch or that sort of thing - going. Is anyone else around? If so, e-mail me; I'd love to touch base.
Thanks! Joseph

So I was watching the Discovery Channel tonight and caught this awesome two-part, four-hour series - "Race To Mars" - sort of a docudrama detailing humanity's first manned flight to Mars in 2030.
Race to Mars is awesome from both a dramatic perspective, an emotional one and a scientific one. The two-part series was some of the best science education I'd seen on TV in ages - and the story itself was realistic, pertinent and poignant. In fact, I've never seen better dramatic fare on TV in at least the last five or six years. Has anyone else seen it? Does anyone know if DVDs, etc. are available? Joseph

So, I'm vacationing in Vancouver until this Tuesday and came across a bit of a find which I'm still on the fence about. I was at Big Pete's comic shop on Lonsdale (anyone else been there?) and in the TF comic/TPB section, there was a brand-new item - this Japanese TF art book that was about half color and half greyscale. It was a mix of stylized original art from G1 cartoon and comic scenes, G2 comic art concepts, Masterforce, Battlestars and that sort of thing and then greyscale profile drawings of most TFs from the cartoon, along with lots of Japanese text throughout.
Some of the art was beautiful, and I am interested in this book - I passed it up this week and wonder if I made the right choice - I am going back this weekend to pick it up, I think. The main factor which kept me from picking it up right away was the pricetag - $60 for a 140 page book. Thinking back, however, it was a pretty cool piece, and I don't know if I'll ever have a chance to pick it up again. Does anyone else know anything about this piece? I didn't capture the name, unfortunately, but it is apparently brand new. Does anyone else know anything about this? Is it worth getting? Joseph |
