Henry Gibson and Mary Travers have died

Our parents loved Henry Gibson as the soft-spoken, slow-burn master from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, but our generation knew him as Wilbur, who was Some Pig indeed. I don't know of a single person my age who hasn't seen Charlotte's Web at least five times.

Mary Travers passing away has special meaning to me. When I was very young, my parents would always play me Puff, The Magic Dragon to get me to sleep, and it became pretty much my favorite song. I never much cared for other songs by Peter, Paul and Mary, but Puff could pretty much hypnotize me as soon as I heard it.

The world's a sadder place for both their passings.

We had the time of our lives, sir. Rest in peace.

A Word of Caution for All You Gym Rats!

Do not under any circumstances sign up for membership at Gold's Gym! Chris has been attempting for the past five months to end his "month-to-month" contract with the gym (which mysteriously became a 1-year contract when he tried to end it the first time) to no avail. The one year contract ended in July, and he was billed today for the month of August. He completed a termination of service form in March, dated it for July, and yet they're still billing him!

We've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and we're going to take this to the state attorney general if we have to.

Happy Birthday Defunct!

I just want to wish a Happy Birthday to our very own Caustic Canadian, and my best friend, Defunct. He's a ripe old 24 today, doesn't look a day over 23, and is enjoying his birthday with family and so will likely not be online to terrorize us enjoy his birthday wishes until later.
