I still say the show has a non-linear time line, meaning seasons 1 and 2 take place inside of each other. For the most part I agree. Some episodes could definitely be rearranged, and in a few cases that would actually improve the timeline. However the two seasons couldn't be completely rearranged. For one thing the animation has gotten considerably better. Later season 2 episodes do not look like early season 1 episodes. For another thing there's been considerable character development. -------------------- You're turning into the real-life version of that little devil that hovers over people's shoulders and tells them to do horrible things. I'm not liking this development. Lesson of the day, when we go on some crazy quest, don't let Fnu Aw hold the Dues Ex Magical Artifact. Right, that's it. Tomorrow, I'm painting a giant pentagram on the floor, then buying a goat and sacrificing it to Fnu Aw, Lord of All Evil. |

At first I didn't like either song too much, but after listening a couple more times, they really grew on me. I really enjoy both. The animation is smooth as butter and, to me at least, a noticeable jump from Season 2. I immediately had to gif both videos. I'll put the gifs here since it is still kind of spoiler-ish.

I think those songs might be from the same episode(s), since they are both set in Canterlot and "Crystal Fair" seems to answer the question in "Pass or Fail" Twilight gets called to Canterlot, or they haven't left yet and just get called to the castle, and gets told what wrong and when she's unable to do anything on her own she feels like she's let down her new sister-in-law, which leads to spike convincing her to explain to the others to help her which leads to the second song. All of this leading to us to learn what the Crystal Empire is, unless its been revealed at SDCC and I missed info on it.

That first video mentions Cadence, so I guess it's safe to say we'll be seeing her again. That's good.
The second video just makes me sad, and I don't even know what she's singing about. I'm definetly going to have to get the season pass on iTunes. No way I want to have to wait until Netflix gets it. -------------------- |

Is there a definite answer as to how much time has passed so far? I would love to work out a more solid timeline for the show, but there are some answers that can't be answered without an official word. For example, has there been one winter or two? Clearly the downfall of the Crystal Empire was the stoned sheep creature infestation. What the devil are those things?

While the show can technically be viewed out of order, they were very efficient in making newer episodes have enough references to previous ones, as well as general character traits that season two decidedly takes place after the first. Heck, just look at season 2 fluttershy compared to season 1, same for everyone else as well.
As to the Crystal Empire...I wonder if they are related to changelings? That, or they aren't too different from regular ponies. New toylines are one thing, but adding in a ton of new races that look fairly similar to each other can make things crowded after a while. |

That, or they aren't too different from regular ponies. New toylines are one thing, but adding in a ton of new races that look fairly similar to each other can make things crowded after a while. It's true. Of particular note, Rarity and Applejack have become much closer since their early squabbles. Rarity has also become more patient with Sweetie Belle. Rarity has become protective of Spike since acknowledging his "secret" crush. Fluttershy has become more assertive since Iron Will's seminar. The character development on this show is subtle, but it's obvious when you compare early and later episodes. There is a timeline here. I hope changelings are somehow involved. And I hope we get to see the mook with a personality again. This spoilers are already spawning some nice fanart. *adorable Fluttershy dragon picture* Still cute. Nayuki, can you tell us on a scale from season one to season two how amazing the next season will be? Season three. You just broke the measurement system! No words can express my excitement now! [attachment=29222:celmmmmf.png] Lol, yeah, I was totally hoping you would say that. Well, it's tricky to give an answer to the question since it's really subjective. How I see it isn't necessarily how you'll see it. We won't know where it stands next to the other seasons until after it's done anyway. I'm excited about it, which is probably the best answer I can give. I got Nayuki to comment on a spoiler topic, you're welcome fandom. Anyway, can you tell us if you worked more on this season then either of the former two? I knew Crystal Empire would turn out to be something. That explains the sticker on the box now. It doesn't seem quite as epic as I first imagined given the song. -------------------- I find you to be a valuable member of the community. ... That...makes sense. Your theory is fairly well thought out, and definitely sounds like it could work. Holy crap! That's very haunting. I must fav that! That just replaced my other Luna fav. |

I've just watched the whole Brony panel. The Fluttershy as a dragon bit is definitely a spoiler. There's no way Tabitha was talking about Dragonshy.
Naturally the fandom is already running wild with all the hints. I like that worried look on Octy's face, lol. It's true; there's no reason a concert cellist should know how to sing. If it's all true, I wonder what brings her to Rarity's... will Sweetie be in the episode and have a chance to exhibit her musical talent? Will Rarity try to push a jewel-encrusted bow tie on Octy? So many questions.

So what's Trixie's return going to be like? Will she be a friend or foe? Will she be Twilight's foil?

There's been so many fanon interpretations of Trixie (although most seem to share a common thread), it might be challenging at first to reconcile everything with her canon expansion.
