Digital Product Placement In Transformers DVD PDF Print E-mail

Transformers DVD Product Placement Apparently over $700 million in worldwide box office and untold millions in sponsorships and licensing deals weren't quite enough--the DVD release of Transformers: The Movie has been digitally altered to insert additional product placement. During the scene where Captain Lennox speaks to his wife via webcam, what was once a generic video interface has been magically updated with a prominent Cisco Systems logo. This kind of digital product placement has been used on television and discussed in news articles, but it's surprising to see a major motion picture "transformed" between its theatrical and home-video release just to add a blatant pitch for a corporate sponsor.

Eagle-eyed Allsparker Skunkobot noticed the change after seeing the film multiple times in the theater and on DVD, and his thread has discussion and comparison images of both the theatrical and DVD versions of the scene.
