During an Arctic expedition in the 1800s, Captain Archibald Witwicky falls into an abyss and lands on a robotic hand partially buried in the ice. He finds staring back at him the eyes of Decepticon leader Megatron, who burns a map showing the location of the life giving Allspark into Witwicky's eyeglasses. These are handed down to his descendant, Sam, in the present day. Elsewhere, Decepticon Blackout attacks a United States Air Force base in Qatar in the present day, grabbing and absorbing information from a computer whilst he destroys the base and deploys Scorponok. Scorponok chases Captain Lennox and his Special Ops team in the desert and in a village. Lennox then makes a phone call to The Pentagon, who send a jet to fight off the Decepticon. Sam Witwicky buys his first car, which happens to be the Autobot Bumblebee. Bumblebee helps Sam to gain Mikaela as his girlfriend. The Autobots come looking for Archibald's glasses, whilst hiding in Sam's yard, and the nefarious Sector 7 comes to invade Sam's house. The film eventually concludes with a battle that begins at the Hoover Dam and concludes in Los Angeles as Autobot leader Optimus Prime and Megatron face each other. Starring...

Publishing... IDW Publishing has published a four issue prequel to the Transformers Movie. Written by Simon Furman and Chris Ryall, and with art by Don Figueroa, the prequel comics follow Bumblebee from the Battle of Tyger Pax to his flight from Cybertron in search of the blessed Allspark. The second issue sees Megatron entombed on Earth in a parallel search, with the third detailing Sector 7's origin, and the fourth leading directly into the events of the film. Additionally, the cover images for the film's adaptation have been released, featuring art by Alex Milne. The premiere issue hits newsstands in June.
Allan Dean Foster, well known for his prolific sci-fi work, has written the novel prequel, Ghosts of Yesterday, which saw release in early April, 2007. The traditional movie marketing books are sure to follow, such as Transformers: The Movie Guide, by Simon Furman. The official novelization, also by Foster, has been released through Wal-Mart's online store, and can be ordered here.
Video Games... Activision will be releasing the game for all major platforms in Mid-June: The PS2, PS3, PSP, XBox360, Nintendo Wii, and two versions for the Nintendo DS handheld. Allspark staffer ChessPieceFace had the opportunity to preview the XBox360 and DS versions of the game earlier this year, and shared his thoughts with us here.
The Allspark was also honored to hold an interview with Daniel Suarez, Activision's Executive Producer overseeing the game.
