WizardUniverse.com has had a chance to sit down with Transformers: Animated voice actor Phil LaMarr. Most of you will remember that he was the voice for Samurai Jack, and that is what the majority of the interview is about. His new role as Jazz is mentioned, however.
Below is the excerpt on Jazz. You can read the rest of the interview here. Changing subjects, you are set to play Jazz in the new Transformers show. It’s a great role with a lot of history, so are you going to follow the footsteps of the old series, the movie, or should we expect something new? LAMARR: There’s no way to follow in the footsteps Scatman Crothers [Jazz’s original voice from the old series]. I mean, those are just shoes that are too big to fill. So, yeah, we’ve gone a different direction. Obviously the “cool” element is still there, that’s never going to go away with Jazz, and in my head I always hear Scatman but it’s a different sound. It’s a new sound. I’m glad you brought up Scatman Crothers, because it must just be cool to pick up after such a legend. What is that like? LAMARR: It’s an honor to be able to play something that somebody so talented originated. Even though they’re revamping the story, you know and the fans know that that’s where it came from and it’s nice to be connected to that kind of history. |

Hey, kids, want something even weirder than a Transformer that turns into a shoe? How about a KNOCKOFF of a Transformer that turns into a shoe? That's right, a new eBay auction shows that those intrepid foreign bootleggers have started producing their own candy-colored cheap-plastic versions of Nike Free 7.0 Optimus Prime. And in an attempt to maximize their profits off what will no doubt be a highly sought-after item, they're producing the same toy in at least two different color schemes. Unfortunately, the pictured packaging seems to contain no English, so it's unlikely these will show up at Big Lots or another U.S. retailer anytime soon.

Remy has managed to get his hands on a Universe Swerve and has posted a gallery of the figure. This toy is rumored to be available only through the purchase of a Chevy Aveo, although there has been little proof to back up that rumor.
You can see the pictures of this potentially rare figure here, and discuss them here. |

The Knight Shift is reporting that the Transformers: The Movie movie score has entered production. According to his secret source, the CD will be "as complete as possible" and it had originally been intended for a November release, but due to a larger than expected public demand, they decided to get it out earlier. Also mentioned is that Warner Records may be planning to release a 2-disc set if sales of the single CD warrant it.
You can view the report here. |

So we all know that Transformers: The Movie will be returning to the even bigger screen in September when it will be shown in IMAX theaters, but our good friend PiratedTVPro has stopped by with the news that it may be returning to theaters before that.
At the theater where I freelance Paramount has asked for Transformers to go back on the big screen, again. Last week was our first week without it, but apparently Paramount it going to do one last push of marketing this week in order to try to get the film in a better place to overtake the Yearly Box Office crown when it is released on IMAX. So if you've been under a rock and haven't seen it yet, or if you want to get in that twentieth viewing, you may still have the chance. You can discuss this news in PiratedTVPro's thread here. |
