The Visual Effects Society has nominated Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for the 8th Annual VES Awards ceremony. The VES award recognizes "outstanding visual effects artistry in over twenty categories of film, animation, television, commercials and video games." The folks in the category Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Feature Motion Picture: Scott Benza, Animation Director; Wayne Billheimer, Visual Effects Producer; Scott Farrar, Visual Effects Supervisor; and John Frazier, Special Effects Supervisor. Of interesting note, 2007's Transformers won the 2007 VES Awards ceremony, but lost that year's Oscar to The Golden Compass. If ROTF wins the VES that might mean a better chance at this year's Oscar.

2005 Board member The Fixer has reported finding the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen NEST Battle Pack at a Toys R Us in Texas! This two-pack features Battlefield Bumblebee vs. Infiltration Soundwave...as well as the mail-in form for Recon Ravage!

IDW has posted their upcoming comic list for April 2010!  Comics coming this April include Ongoing #6 (featuring 'the biggest threat since Devastator), Spotlight: Prowl (Art by E.J. How about of a bit of high-flying? Jim Sorenson brings us the Solar-1, a satellite that showed up in the Headmasters episode The Shadow Emperor, Scorponok. What the heck it is? Why, just about the result of Autobot/human technologies combined, designed for collecting untold amounts of solar energy to beam back down to Earth! Of course, the Decepticons aren't about to let such a gem alone.

Here's one for those looking into working with sounds in the film industry! There's a video interview with the folks that worked on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Sound Re-Recording Mixer Greg Russell, Supervising Sound Editor Erik Aadahl and Supervising Sound Editor Ethan Van der Ryn. The video shows these sound guys talking about the sounds utilized in ROTF. One example cited shows how director Michael Bay isn't always a "big-boom" director: the hut scene where Sam breaks the tiny fly-robot and the following silence before the roof gets ripped apart. Also mention was recording military fire such as the M-16, and sounds of the Reedman scene that were based off of magnets.
