Looks cute, but deadly. As if the onslaught regarding War for Cybertron hasn't stopped yet. IGN and Gamespot has eyes-on previews of the games, IGN with a look at the Nintendo DS version. On the DS, worked by Vicarious Visions, 15 Autobots and 15 Decepticons, while staying true to the plot points of High Moon Studios' storytelling for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Players can choose two characters and swap one for the other depending on the situation. Prime taking a beating from Megatron and energy running dangerously low? Swap out for Bumblebee, all fresh and ready while the Boss Bot can recharge in the meantime!
Gamespot and IGN both covered the PS3 version, covering on how Optimus, Bumblebee, and Ratchet meet for the first time in the Autobot campaign, plus mentioning the Unreal 3 engine. Although similar to Gears of War, with notable exceptions. Gamespot went in depth on one mission that involves Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp, and how the Seekers' jet mechanics comes into play, such as strafing, hovering, and boosting mechanics (which were inspired by Crimson Skies). Read up IGN's DS preview, PS3 preview, Gamespot's PS3 preview, and don't forget to sound off at the thread here! Transformers: War for Cybertron hits shelves later this summer. Credits: IGN, G |

About ready to push up daisies on wanting to know Masterpiece MP-03G Starscream's bio? Well, you won't have to join the choir just yet! SydneyY over at TFW was kind enough to post up a rough translation from e-Hobby, officially "Online Exclusive Character Bio (Long Version)". This Starscream is the culmination of other Starscreams that had ceased to exist but gathered in Limbo before finding a way to go back to the living world. After a very large argument, of course.
Here's e-Hobby's listing and you can read the translation over at TFW! |

Sharp death or talk? Choose. Triple pile-up of War for Cybertron news! Machinima.com's video interview with Matt Tieger, game director at High Moon Studios, plus two reports from Kotaku. From Machinima, much has been mentioned before, how the game takes place during the waning years of the war and prior to the Transformers leaving Cybertron. One of the challenges with Cybertron was that the planet is all metal, as well fulfilling expectations, and the most difficult one was scale - how large the TFs would be in relative to their surroundings. Mentioned is a bit on the campaign, from Megatron's perspective, to the Autobots and Optimus' rise, plus understanding the fans' differing perspectives.
Kotaku reports that the DS version - made by Vicarious Visions - will have Grimlock and Jetfire, the Decepticon campaign mentions Starscream and Jetfire's friendship before they separated, no trailer for Prime because it wouldn't work out, and Soundwave is a truck. There's also vehicle classification: cars, trucks, tanks and jets. Cars like Bumblebee allow sharp turns by shifting laterally, whereas jets can hover. The Wii version of WfC will be made by Next Level Games, the folks behind the Wii's revival of Punch Out.
To sum up the goal: "The goal was not to make the best Transformers game ever," Matt Tieger, lead designer of this new game was telling Kotaku. "The goal was to make a great game that was a Transformers game."
Watch the video at Machinima's YouTube, and read Kotaku's articles here and DS update here! Don't forget to sound off at our thread here!

Your Help Is Appreciated How does a very old Hasbro catalog make a difference in the world today? When fans heard about the call to pitch in for the 1986 pre-Toy Fair Hasbro catalog found on eBay back on February 24, the response was phenomenal! However, after the offer was accepted, there was the question of what to do with the still incoming donations. And what could be better than to turn it into a charity drive for the Hasbro Children's Hospital? It's the perfect way to offer a chance for fans - now mostly grown-up - to give back to children in need!
We can now proudly announce that we have raised over $1280, enough to become a Benefactor Sponsor at the Game of Life Gala held at the HCH on March 6 in Providence, Rhode Island! However, we can still raise more; our goal is to raise $2000 by Sunday evening. So if you have not yet donated, and would like to participate in this wonderful cause, make sure you click "Read More" or visit the thread here! |
