Say what the detractors will about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and how the economy has gone, but numbers can't lie that both Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are the top 2 richest folks amongst creative figures of the film industry in 2009. In Bay's case of being number 1: $75 million in "back-end profit participation for directing and producing", $28 million from shared revenue on DVD sales, and $12.5 million from the share of toy and other licensing royalties. Spielberg's number 2 mostly comes from royalties on the Universal-theme parks and consulting fees as well royalties from older films, but he did earn $5 million as executive producer on ROTF.

Speaking of the "Takara Trilogy", here's Jim Sorenson with the transforming sequence lineart to Chromedome from The Headmasters! Note that Chromedome's character is different depending on which side of the Pacific you're talking about: in Western circles, he's an academic; in Japan, a hot-headed mech struggling with the responsibilities and duties of a leader.
Head On over to Jim's blog to see from car to robot mode! |

The Stunticons have nothing on us. Online retailers, including Allspark sponsor BigBadToyStore, are now taking preorders for Fansproject's upcoming TF Crossfire XF-02B Munitioner with Combat Appendage Add On Kit and XF-02A Explorer with Combat Appendage Add On Kit. Both kits supplement the existing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen/Universe 2008 Bruticus Maximus set. These sets provide new individual components (forming an arm and a leg) to replace two existing members, as well as new armor and accessories for the combined form.

Bad news on the Academy Awards®: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen didn't get nominated for Visual Effects. Good news on the Academy Awards®: ROTF got in for Sound Mixing. More bad news: it's got competition against 20th Century Fox's Avatar, fellow Paramount Star Trek, The Hurt Locker from Summit Entertainment, and Universal's Inglorious Basterds.

Shout for Victory! Shout! Factory has nearly finished releasing G1, but could it be that they are not done yet? Brian Ward is entertaining thoughts of going to Hasbro to release the long abandoned "Takara Trilogy" on DVD, but he wants to know if the fans would support it!
I was actually speaking to someone about this the other day. Obviously, we have a very good relationship with Hasbro and would like to pursue additional titles from their library. Without any promises, of course, are the Takara collections something you'd like to see on DVD in the States? I have all three of Metrodome's volumes, which run the gamut of quality, in terms of both animation and all-around storytelling. So is this collection, which has never officially been available in the U.S., something most Transformers fans would like to see done right? Or is it something aimed only at the hardest core fans?
Let me know.
Brian

It's not the Academy Awards, but at least it does account for something! This time, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has been nominated in seven categories from the Golden Raspberry Awards. Notably, it's in competition with Land of the Lost for the Worst Picture category (the opposite of the Oscars' Best Picture). On the remaining six: Worst Director (Michael Bay), Worst Actress (Megan Fox), Worst Screen Couple, Worst Supporting Actress (Julie White), Worst Screenplay, and Worst Remake/Rip-Off/Squel. Compare that to the only category Transformers was nominated in, Supporting Actor for John Voight who played Defense Secretary John Keller.
Read it up at CNN Entertainment, or head over to the Razzies' site!
