Also featured are images of upcoming EZ Collection figures, Encore Big Mission Volume 3, Buster Optimus Prime, Red EZ Collection Rampage, Disney Label Donald Duck, and Device Label Broadcast (now called Broadblast). If you've got a ton of money sitting around, now's your chance to own a rare piece of Transformers History! Original paintings done as toy box character art have been posted on ComicLink.Com! According to the descriptions:
This packaging art was uncovered a decade ago by a single collector with over 35 other Transformers box art paintings and it has remained in his private collection since. To date less than 70 Transformers Generation One original box art pieces have been found of the hundreds that were created.
Traditionally Hasbro would hire different advertising agencies to provide packaging artwork who then commissioned freelance commercial illustrators to design and provide final art, like S. Daly who painted many of the early Box art graphics from 1984-1986. These pieces were painted using a mixture of gouache, watercolor, and airbrush on thick illustration board. This is one-of-a-kind original on 19" x 19" art board with an image area of approximately 15" x 14". Truly a piece of Pop Culture, Comic Book, and Toy history, it is rare for any original Transformers packaging art to come up for sale." Talk about rare! Check out the auctions for Metroplex, Air Raid, Astrotrain, Blitzwing, and several Micromasters! Thanks to Marc for the heads up!

Just a couple weeks after the release of Device Label Jaguar (Ravage) and Tigatron, comes word that the upcoming Device Label Broadblast (known as Blaster in the States) is canceled. Several Japanese retailers are listing him as canceled and are no longer taking preorders for the item. Broadcast was originally due out December. Hyper Hobby magazine does mention the figure may see a release in April of 2010, but nothing is confirmed either way at this point. Device Label Grimlock and Dinosaurer (Trypticon) are still due for release later this month.
You can discuss the news in our forums. |

Nightscream chases down Jetstorm and retrieves Blackarachnia’s spark. Rattrap and Cheetor lose control of Tankor and once again face him and his Vehicon drones. Tankor continually appears to show signs of inner conflict during the battle. While communicating with the Matrix through the Oracle, Optimus finds Rhinox. Optimus is taken back when Rhinox shows signs of hostility towards him. Meanwhile, Rhinox manages to gain control of Tankor claiming that he is no longer on the Maximals’ or Megatron’s side. Cheetor and the others subdue him and attempt to forcefully reprogram him. Optimus appears and tells them to let Rhinox go. Rhinox leaves the Maximals with a criptic message, “the next time we meet, it will not be as allies”. |
