Simon Furman has updated his blog, this time talking about the upcoming IDW Spotlight: Blaster comic book. He discusses just what character the Autobot will most resemble; the Blaster from the cartoon or the Blaster from the Comics. The short answer is neither, yet both.
The answer is neither, or maybe an amalgam of the two with a new twist, however you want to look at it. The whole point with these character Spotlights (and the IDW TF-verse in general) is that you don’t ever get quite what you were expecting. If it’s been done before, the rule of thumb is, don’t do it again (or don’t do it the same way). To read the entire entry click here, it does get a little spoiler-y as he goes more in depth about this new, yet familiar, Blaster. |

Just found this picture on a Chinese wholesale/retail trade site called Alibaba. It was amidst other items like the KO tapes, KO Mirage, KO Wheeljack, etc. Looks like Warpath is going to be one of the next ones.
Here's a link to the Alibaba products page where I found the image. |

The newest issue of Master Collector is starting to hit mailboxes worldwide, and apparently it contains a tidbit of news about BotCon 2008. While it doesn't specify a location, or exact date, it reveals that the annual Transformers convention will be held around the end of April or beginning of May.
Thanks to Kenucme of TFW2005 for the news. Keep an eye on BotCon.com and our Convention Forum for more news! |

TheTransformers.Net is reporting that the British Board of Film Classification has rated the content of the UK Transformers: The Movie DVD, and their review page for the set is very interesting. In addition to the content we knew about, it lists no less than ten deleted scenes, including what appear to be many of the scenes restored in the IMAX release, plus more with Maggie and Glen. Plus, three "easter eggs" and an additional feature on Sam's dog Mojo are listed.
There have been no previous announcements of deleted scenes for the U.K. or any other DVD releases, so this may or may not translate into good news for fans. The U.K. DVD also isn't due until December 3 (vs. October 16 in the U.S.), so it's possible they may have slightly different content--though official press releases have so far listed the same contents for both countries' DVD sets. Either way, it seems likely these scenes will show up on a shiny disc somewhere soon. Click here for the BBFC page, and visit TheTransformers.net for the initial report. |

Ready for the low down on IDW's Beast Wars Source Books? Simon Furman goes into detail about the books on his blog, talking about how he and Ben Yee constructed a "unified" Beast Wars universe.
Not, as you might think, a football (soccer) team in a league composed of Transformers generations (Cyberteron City, RiD Rovers et al), but a unified Beast Wars universe, one that amalgamates the US Beast Wars TV series/toy line with its Japanese counterparts (BW II and BW Neo) and, for good measure, the convention/store exclusive toy characters. That was what we (myself and bwtf.com’s Ben Yee) set out to do when (over a year ago now) we began to craft a four-issue sourcebook/profile series for Transformers Beast Wars, the first issue of which is available next week. No easy task, as there are elements of the Japanese shows that just aren’t easily compatible with the US series.
Over the course of the four issues, no less than 162 characters are profiled, and (in issue #4) there’s an extensive glossary. Entries vary from one to two to three pages, depending on number of alt. forms or variations.
You can read the entire entry here. |

Several movie sites, including ComingSoon.net and BoxOfficeMojo, are reporting that Paramount has penciled in June 26, 2009 as the release date for the sequel to Transformers: The Movie.
Recently, Michael Bay has voiced displeasure with the speed at which the project is progressing, and there have been rumblings of his involvement with movie versions of The Prince of Persia and 2012: The War For The Souls. A June 2009 release date for Transformers II wouldn't leave Bay a window for another big-budget flick inbetween, but presumably he'll be pleased that the studio has put the sequel on the fast track instead. As always, movie release dates aren't written in stone, and a possible Writers' Guild strike next year could delay the flick. But for now, it seems Paramount believes this is the movie to put up against Fox's Ice Age III on the Independence Day weekend of 2009. Discuss this development in Legend-Of-Blackout's thread. |
