Simon Furman Blog Updates: Movie Devastator and IDW Fort Max! PDF Print E-mail

UK Transformers Magazine #4Simon Furman has updated his blog with some new, interesting information.

This past Sunday, he wrote a little about the Sub-Con he attended in Dublin. During his panel at the convention, he says that he revealed that a certain Headmaster commander would make his way into the pages of an IDW spotlight. Fort Max won't be the main character, it'll just a supporting role for a yet unnamed character spotlight.

Today he shares a little information about the Titan UK Transformers: The Movie Magazine #4 that is due out this week. This issue features free pin badges, a showdown between Prime and Megatron, and an appearance by Movie Devastator!

You can see what he has to say about the Magazine and Spotlight issues by clicking here, and you can see the cover of the Magazine by clicking here

Scott FarrarIGN has posted an interview with Transformers: The Movie Visual Effects Supervisor Scott Farrar. Some of Farrar's quotes are nearly identical to those mentioned in the recent Sci-Fi Wire article, so either they used the same source or Farrar's got a set of talking points so tight it would make Bill O’Reilly jealous.

Aside from the repeated promises that they have the technology to rebuild a better, stronger, faster sequel, Farrar drops some tidbits about how the robots were "cheated" to make their designs more visually interesting, and how a key point of the movie's finale was changed after test screenings.

Optimus Prime Speaks A new section of the Transformers: The Movie site has been created to promote the upcoming DVD release, and it makes Optimus Prime your trained telephone monkey! Visit http://optimus.transformersmovie.com/, answer a few questions, and Prime himself will ring up you or one of your buddies to warn about a potential Decepticon threat. He'll mention the DVD too, but that's probably just a coincidence.

Check out http://optimus.transformersmovie.com/ yourself, and hope your name isn't too unusual for Prime's vocal processors to handle. Thanks to Jarodimus of the 2005 Boards for the tip!

And if that's not enough personal attention for you, upload a photo of yourself to http://www.suityourself.tv/ and see what you'd look like as a sort of freaky human/robot alien cyborg monstrosity. Use it as a template for a Halloween costume, or to scare your mom back home into thinking you've been blown up and resurrected as the new RoboCop.

Credit goes to Seibertron.com for pointing out the Suit Yourself site.

Transformers Movie DVDWith just over ten days until Transformers: The Movie comes out on DVD, interesting tidbits of news keep rolling in. Check these out:

-An early review of the set has been posted at HomeTheaterForum, and it confirms something many fans have been hoping for: deleted and extended scenes! The reviewer reports the scenes are integrated into the featurettes on Disc 2, but at least they're present. Read the full review for more.

-ComicsContinuum has posted screenshots of the menus for the two-disc set. Click this link and scroll down to see. Thanks to TFW2005 for pointing out the link.

-A poster at DVDTalk provides more details about Best Buy's U.S. exclusives: The two-disc set with bonus Robot Heroes doesn't seem to advertise any special gift-box packaging, and the metallic Voyager Ratchet and Megatron repaints will be available for $19.99 alone, or $14.99 with the purchase of the Transformers DVD. More solid confirmation should be forthcoming soon, but for now, click here for his post.

RUMOR: Transforming DVD Case At Target? PDF Print E-mail

Transformers Australian DVD This rumor is about as rumory as they come, as it's based on some guy talking to some other guy at Target. Regardless, it's interesting, so here's the rumor. A poster on DVDTalk.com says that he was told by an employee that Target would be carrying an exclusive edition of the 2-disc Transformers: The Movie DVD, in a special case that transforms into a 15" tall Optimus Prime. If the rumor is true, it sounds an awful lot like a U.S. edition of the Australian DVD set we reported on back in August (and pictured at left).

Visit DVDTalk for the original rumor. As it's only a week and a half until the DVD release, we should have confirmation on this rumor one way or another very soon. Rumor.
