There have been rumors of the Botcon 2008 Exclusive Shattered Glass 6 Figure Set being sold out for days now, but Fun Publications has officially stated that said sets are now sold out. In lieu of the 2008 Boxed set selling out, Fun Publications is offering the 2005 Descent into Evil Box Set in it's place at a discounted price. They are also introducing a new package designed specifically for 2008, the Energon Package, giving non-Primus Package holders the option to attend all the events the Primus Package holders can.
Last but certainly not least, Fun Publications is unveiling the Botcon 2008 Attendee Freebie figure this Friday. This will be the first time they've revealed the attendee freebie figure before the convention. You can discuss the news in The Walky's thread and read the full press release at Botcon.com. UPDATE: The freebie is none other than Ricochet, a redeco of the Jazz toy from this year's set. You can join in the discussion here! |

Toshiba has announced its own "Real Gear Transformer," except this time... it's actually a real gear transformer. In Japan (of course), Toshiba will be releasing the Softbank 815T PB, which is a working 3G cellphone that sprouts arms and legs to become a li'l robot. The phone even comes with wallpaper "faces" and a built-in talking avatar that "learns" how to respond to its owner.
No word yet on price, or a release outside Japan. Check out the original article on Cellular-News.com, and discuss in this thread.

TFW2005 has gotten a hold of official images of Transformers Animated Leader Bulkhead and Megatron Arm Blaster. Fans that have always wanted their own Fusion Cannon may be interested in the latter; it's a helicopter mode Megatron that turns into a Fusion Cannon-like arm blaster! It should also be noted that the Leader Bulkhead appears to be mis-transformed.
You can see all of the images of both toys here! |

The final two figures for the 2008 Botcon boxset have been revealed on Botcon.com! Starscream and Razorclaw team-up to fight the forces of the Evil Autobots and their cruel leader, Optimus Prime! This Starscream is the Starscream that appeared on eBay last week, but these photos show that he does have a silver face, not white like the eBay image appeared to show.

Yet another auction for a loose Transformers Animated Voyager-class Optimus Prime has popped up on eBay, courtesy of seller etoyshunter. This time, we get the best images yet of the toy from nearly all angles, including close-ups of some of the finer details and many of the toy's gimmicks. The photos confirm that Prime can hold his rifle in his hand, can store his unfolding battleaxe on his back, and can slide down his faceplate to reveal his mouth underneath.
Click here for the eBay auction, or check out our mirror of the (very large) photo collage. Thanks to TFW2005 for the news.

A poster over at TFW2005 has some bad news for anyone who hesitated on their BotCon registration. Board member Peaugh says he received an email from Fun Publications informing him that as of today, the "Shattered Glass" box sets are officially sold out. While the speed is impressive, it can't be said to be a surprise, given that Fun Publications stopped taking non-attending orders last week. Assuming the report is accurate, the news will likely be posted to BotCon.com today.

In a bit of unexpected news it appears the Binaltech line will continue - with at least two upcoming releases. The website Toysdaily recently uploaded an image for what looks to be new releases of Binaltech Smokescreen and Meister. Smokescreen looks to be sporting Binaltech Streak's (Silverstreak) Impreza body (rather than the one used for the original Smokescreen) in a metallic blue paint but retains the (what looks to be) the original Smokescreen head. Meister is now sporting a metallic paint job meant to resemble the 2007 Movie character's finish as well as the Mazda Speed parts used on Laserwave (Shockblast).
Thanks to TFW2005 for the news, you can view the image and discuss the news here. *Edit* According to our Own Buster Darkwings, the katakanna reads "Bluestreak" and not Smokescreen. This means that it may be a new character, as the G1 toy was called "Streak" in Japan. *Edit 2* On closer inspection the head may be in fact the one originally used on Streak (Silverstreak) further solidifying the Bluestreak name. *Edit 3* One of our sponsors BigBadToyStore has provided larger pictures of the two figures here and here - confirming that Bluestreak is a straight recolor of Streak and not a combination of figures like Meister is. |
