Important Information Regarding Allspark Forums Accounts
Having a large community is great and have such a close knit community is even better, but over the years people come and go and move on to other things as new people come in and take their places.
Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of bounced emails because the email addresses that are registered to many accounts no longer exist. Sometimes this is just an oversight for current users, but in most cases these alerts are coming from user accounts that haven’t been to the forums, even to log on, in many, many years.
As such, I’m going to do something that I’ve haven’t done in about 10 years and prune the member accounts for inactive users. The cut off point is going to be 5 years. As in, if you haven’t logged into the forums in 5 or more years then you’re account is going to be deleted.
This applies to Validating, Protoform and Citizen groups in particular. Supporters, Retired Admin, and other staff will not be affected by this.
I’m putting out this notification for two reasons. First and foremost, if you want to save your account, or know someone who might want to save their account, it gives you a chance to simply log in to escape the filter. The other reason is that the sheer amount of inactive accounts is roughly half the current user total. That’s a LOT of accounts, in the neighborhood of 5,000+ – so this isn’t something I’m doing lightly. It’s just time to clean house a bit. There is no undoing this action so I want to give people until the end of August to get the word out to their friends or spot us on social media.
If you have any questions, please post them here in the forums.
