Kickstarter Corner – The Depths of Durangrar

As someone who knows what it’s like to run a Kickstarter (all be it a humble one) one of the best things I could have hoped for, outside of direct financial support, was for people to get the word out. To that end, I’ve decided to use this platform to promote Kickstarter campaigns that I like personally — and that I think many of you might like as well.

First up on the docket is something I came across and thought it was a pretty cool premise. There are lot of board games out there, but this is the first one I’ve ever seen that is played in the dark against a foe that uses nightvision goggles to have the upper hand. Basically, in this four player game, the “Monster” builds a dungeon maze out of modular walls and places a treasure for the three heroes to find. The story reason for the treasure is that each hero represents a nation who needs it to feed their people.

The twist is, once the dungeon is built and the monsters placed the lights go out and players must navigate the maze using only the tiny LED torches that their tokens possess. The monster on the other hand can see the entire dungeon via his nightvision goggles and it’s his goal to eat the players so they can never take his treasure.

What makes the Kickstarter appealing is that if you want to go all in on the game you of course can – the reward level for that is about 80 bucks, which is a little high until you realize you get a nigthvision scope to go along with it.

Alternatively, you can opt for the miniatures only if that’s your thing. Stretch goals will lead to another hero and another monster token (currently there are three each currently).
